Story
This is the story of the voice of a generation, the legend—Kishore Kumar. Beginning with his time spent in Khandwa, Bhagalpur and Indore and going on to Bombay where Kishore moved to try his luck in cinema, this new biography by Parthiv Dhar and Anirudha Bhattacharjee tells it all. A product of over thirty years of research, it goes beyond Kishore's nearly three thousand songs and his varied contributions to cinema, and reveals unknown facts about his four marriages, his run-ins with the government in the 1970s, and his health issues.

Story
To a nation fed on classical music, the advent of Rahul Dev Burman with his repertoire of Western beats was a godsend. RD revolutionized Hindi film music in the 1970s, and with his emphasis on rhythm and beats, this Pied Piper of Hindi film music had young India swinging to his tunes. At the same time, this genius proved his many detractors who criticized him for corrupting popular taste wrong by composing some of the most influential raga-based songs in Hindi cinema and showing an immense comfort with all kinds of music, including Indian folk.

Whatever the truth of that assertion, there is little question about his skill as a witty, eloquent, and entertaining writer. This book collects the best of over three decades of the author’s prose - including his finest journalistic pieces, short stories, translations, jokes, plays, as well as excerpts from his nonfiction books and novels.

Story
Sanjeev Kumar was the antithesis of the typical Bollywood hero doing romance and action. Not one to crave glamorous roles, he was more interested in versatility. From his mature roles in films like Mausam and Aandhi to his comic timing in Angoor or the angst of person with disabilities in Koshish-he was truly a thinking man's actor. His expressive face, inflections and pauses, natural ease for lip-syncing, all of it made him the complete package.

Publisher's Summary
An intimate peek into the life of the soldier-turned-lyricist Anand Bakshi, from his formative years in undivided Punjab to eventually moving to Bombay and landing his first film Bhala Aadmi in 1958. Along the way, he lost his mother, his place of birth, and his home and wealth, but his zeal to stand up and walk after every stumble and his desire to become a film artist never abated. He eventually rose to become one of the most revered and sought-after lyricists in Hindi cinema, writing nearly 3300 songs in about 630 films over the next five decades.
Written by his son, this is an inspiring story of faith, dreams, success and, above all, human values.

inspiring and touching memoir
The story is a 10/10. Though the narration is not fitting. Could have done better. Some statements lose their charm only because they were not read in the required tone and flow.
Meanwhile the story, it's an inspiring journey of a fauzi who aspired to make a name for himself among the lyricists and made one that even time hasn't been able to erase in nearly 2 decades of his passing and half a century of his advent. His life story is an example of one of his own poems. Tadbeer se apni taqdeer likhne wale kuch rare insaano me hain Bakhshi ji. This memoir is going to stay with me and will keep inspiring in difficult times.
