Story
In February 1999, Pakistani Army personnel, disguised as jehadi militants, infiltrated mountainous Kargil and occupied key vantage points. Their intrusion triggered off a limited war between the world's newest nuclear states. It was a bitter battle, and one that throws up important lessons for India's defence preparedness, as also its responses to flare-ups such as this. This book is also a reminder of the unparalleled heroism that was on display during those grim weeks, heroism that has become a benchmark for bravery.

Story
On 20 October 1962, high in the Himalayas, on the banks of the fast-flowing Nam Ka Chu, over 400 Indian soldiers were massacred, and the valley was overrun by soldiers of China's People's Liberation Army. Over the course of the next month, nearly 4,000 soldiers were killed on both sides, and the Indian army experienced its worst defeat ever. The conflict (war was never formally declared) ended because China announced a unilateral ceasefire on 21 November and halted its hitherto unhindered advance across NEFA and Ladakh.

India's armed forces play a key role in protecting the country and occupy a special place in the Indian people's hearts, yet standard accounts of contemporary Indian history rarely have a military dimension. In India's Wars, serving Air Vice Marshal Arjun Subramaniam seeks to rectify that oversight by giving India's military exploits their rightful place in history.

Good book written after research on kargil heros
if someone is interested to know about the kinds of odds our real heroes faced during the kargil war and how did they overcome against those odds and saved our nation. this is the book which gives the sneak peek into their lives. after listening this book I feel that this war was won just by the courage of our soldiers only, nothing else. many of the times during listening the book, I was so emotionally overwhelmed, I couldn't stop my tears to flow.

Truly a tribute to our martyr
A good book. The storytelling is so nice that one often feels like accompanying the soldier on those chilly nights and watching everything happening in front of eyes. The narration by Kiran Multani is such a passionate that one can feel the pride she might be feeling while narrating this story. Salute to our martyr

Gripping and very lively
The ability to vividly paint the picture with words is amazingly done by the author. I almost felt as if I reached the war zone through her words.
Ultimately I always believe that a good director and performer makes or breaks a good audible book.
kudos to both of them.

Worth a listen!!
Tone and tenor of the author is the steal of this audio book. Albeit I expected a more detailed narration of our heros from Kargil war, whatever is included in this book hasn’t satiated my desire to know more and this book has provided me the impetus to read more on our Heroes!! Well done!!
