Martin and Marion Shirran
Martin and Marion Shirran have worked in the weight-loss arena for over 25 years. Their area of expertise is focused on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. They are the developers of the upgraded version of CBT, Tactile Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, TCBT. Their new therapy was endorsed by Professor Windy Dryden of Goldsmiths University, London and Professor Philip Zimbardo of Stanford University. Their work has been covered in the media worldwide.
Together, they have delivered more than 15,000 hours of clinical and coaching-based work, supporting individuals through the psychological challenges of weight loss and, more importantly, weight maintenance. Their work has consistently focused on the gap between knowing what to do and actually being able to sustain it in real life.
In 2004, they founded Elite Clinic in southern Spain, where they worked with a wide range of clients, helping them address patterns around food, emotional triggers, and self-sabotaging behaviours. Their approach combines practical behavioural strategies with insights drawn from cognitive and rational-emotive behavioural frameworks.
Martin holds a certificate in Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) from the Birmingham REBT School, further underpinning their evidence-based approach. Marion has a degree from Lancaster University.
Their latest book, The GLP-1 Legacy, was developed in response to a growing need they observed among individuals using GLP-1 medications such as Ozempic, Wegovy and Mounjaro. While these treatments can be highly effective during use, many people feel unprepared for what happens when the medication is reduced or stopped.
Drawing on interviews with over 100 GLP-1 users, alongside their extensive clinical experience, the book focuses on the behavioural side of long-term weight maintenance. It offers a structured, realistic approach to navigating appetite changes, habit relapse and the psychological shift that occurs after pharmacological support is withdrawn.
Their work is grounded in a simple principle: lasting change comes not just from what you do during weight loss, but from the habits you build that stay with you afterwards. The book fills the void around the lack of wrap-around aftercare that GLP-1 users require when transitioning off the medication.
