Steve Israel is the only U.S. Congressman who ever retired from the House to open an independent bookstore, Theodore's Books, located in Oyster Bay, NY. President Clinton once called him "one of the most thoughtful Members of Congress", which, Israel noted, isn't saying all that much. He's written three widely praised novels - most recently THE EINSTEIN CONSPIRACY, an historic thriller. His other books are political satires published when he served in Congress: THE GLOBAL WAR ON MORRIS (2014) and BIG GUNS (2018). His essays have appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal Atlantic Magazine, among others. Israel's a frequent commentator on CNN, MSNBC and other national networks.
