Susan Vinocour is a former Legal Aid attorney and Assistant Prosecutor, a retired clinical and forensic psychologist, and a former Associate Professor of Psychiatry and the Director of the Child and Adolescent Forensic Psychology Program at the University of Rochester School of Medicine. She was the director of the Mental Health Team for Juvenile Probation in a large metro area in Upstate New York and was one of the country's first law guardians for abused and delinquent youth, developing a comprehensive program in Detroit, Michigan. She is the author of a number of works in her field. Her most recent book is a work of narrative nonfiction, "Nobody's Child: A Tragedy, a Trial, and a History of the Insanity Defense." The mother of three grown sons, she lives in Upstate New York with her husband and Irish Setter, Katie, and spends summers hiking in the Rocky Mountains.
