Story
Eighteen-year-old Gu Miyoung has a secret - she's a gumiho, a nine-tailed fox who must devour the energy of men in order to survive. Because so few believe in the old tales anymore, and with so many evil men no one will miss, the modern city of Seoul is the perfect place to hide and hunt. But after feeding one full moon, Miyoung crosses paths with Jihoon, a human boy, being attacked by a goblin deep in the forest. Against her better judgment, she violates the rules of survival to rescue the boy, losing her fox bead - her gumiho soul - in the process.

The audible book was very well narrated. I liked how author placed the plot in korea and korean folklore about Gumiho (nine tailed fox). The high school romance and family drama was nicely placed.

Another good Dystopian novel

Not gonna lie, it was not an easy read. I was looking for some good dystopian audio books and every single one of them suggested Red Rising. I gave it a try once or twice but was not happy with the narration. Therefore I tried ebook version to get me through first few chapters. But once I got hang of the plot I really enjoyed the book. All the color-coded society, academy and houses to conquer. It was thrilling to read that. I'm sucker for dystopian genre and throw in games for survival , I'm instantly glued to it. I just wish it had a reference page to help me keep up with all the colors and tech used by them.

A fantasy world set in backdrop of Africa

I really enjoyed reading/listening to this book. The copy I have is narrated by Bahni Turpin and she did a great job.
I loved the world created by Tomi. Because of her now I know what is kaftan , gele and different shades of skin colors. All the characters were well written with their own back stories and perspective of the situations.
In author's note I read why she wrote this book and can't agree more with her. As of today the very topic which wanted to bring to everyone's notice happened few weeks ago where Ahmaud Arbery was killed while he went out to Jog. This just shows that how embedded the racism is in our society and how much we should fight against it.
On lighter note, I am exited to read her next book in the series. Also I heard Disney is making a movie on this and can't wait to see all the characters come alive.
PS. Can't help the feeling the story seems similar to the Throne of glass and court of thorns and roses. May be because I just read too much fantasy :P

Story
From the Orange Prize-winning, internationally best-selling author of The Song of Achilles comes the powerful story of the mythological witch Circe, inspired by Homer's Odyssey. In the house of Helios, god of the sun and mightiest of the Titans, a daughter is born. But Circe has neither the look nor the voice of divinity and is scorned and rejected by her kin. Increasingly isolated, she turns to mortals for companionship, leading her to discover a power forbidden to the gods: witchcraft.
