This to me was not just an audiobook. It was like sitting next to an elderly person of the family and listening to their tales, real life experiences. The story is engaging, entertaining and at the same time my stomach ties in knots time to time listening to the way events unfold. I came across many short and simple one liners that almost chocked me. Such a simple but powerful way to express deepest feeling... Loved the book and the narration equally.

How much a person can imagine. .. ooff.. hats off to the author simply for his creative imagination. I did not understand the story fully but the plot and characters were so very interesting that I did not get bored. tons of thanks to the narrative. superb narration made it possible for me to continue till end. had I been reading the book, not sure if I had reached the end. :)

I had read some chapters from this book earlier and loved the stories. enchanting adventures of modern spies, covet operations and what not... started this book with great enthusiasm and expectations. But sorry to say, narration is extremely poor. The narrator simply reads the text like reading out weather report. No voice modulations, no expressive sound tones nothing.. I got too bored in first few minutes. Still listened to first two chapters but could not continue. Finally returned it - unwillingly and unsatisfied.

Innocent kids in a horrible place at horrible time. Narrator has succeeded in creating a personality of the bubbly 9 year old. Special surprise of 'talk with the author' at the end.

When you hear the name Khaled Housseini, you get ready for a gripping tale of twisted reality of life and variety of human emotions. This book is no exception. In addition, it has a different form of narrative and I simply loved it. Lives... how independent but how interlinked ! Very good novel, well narrated
