The storybooks offered endless possibilities. And as she grew older, Izzy crossed them off. One by one by one....Now Izzy's given up yearning for romance. She'll settle for a roof over her head. What fairy tales are left over for an impoverished 26-year-old woman who's never even been kissed?

I'm happy to find this isn't another romance about dukes with perfect skin and teeth and women who are impossibly beautiful . though the fandom for Izzy seems cringy , I liked the emotional journey ransom and Izzy went though. the ending was slightly soppy but the writing is witty and enjoyable. I like the combination of realistic character portrayal as allowable in historic romances with witty writing and excellent narration by Carmen rose . this is a refreshing change from the stifling perfection of the usual historic romances . the quirky characters are likable and relatable .
