Most morbid, pervert and sadistic book ever. Couldn't hear beyond the first hour. This book is a drag.

This one for sure will hold a special place in my heart. It's gem of a book in the world of children's literature. Plus, it is wonderfully recited by the narrator. The writing is such that reader lives every moment with the book characters. In fact, I won't exaggerate, if I say that it doesn't take much time to fall in love with the characters, especially so for the dog lovers. The plot is an emotional journey, gorgeously portrayed by the way of words. It transports you to the country life in Ozarks in the era of 1930s, when the jungles stood tall and lush, and hunting down animals was a way of life to make ends meet. Makes a wonderful read for all 8 to 11 year olds, especially boys.

Wonderful narrator. She spoke like she was living each word. Though the story is beautiful but loosely tied at times. Description of places in France was indeed elaborate but too technical at times. Truly lived the story in my head. Apart from that the plot was pretty engaging and I enjoyed it.
