 『鼻』 あらすじ:禅智内供(ぜんちないぐ)という僧侶がいた。彼は鼻の長さが18cmと長く、内供は始終この鼻を苦に病んで来たが、表面上は気にしない風を装っていた。ある日、内供は鼻を短くする方法を知り、その方法を試し、鼻を短くすることに成功する。しかし、数日して短くなった鼻を見て笑う者が出始めた。そして内供は鼻が長かった頃よりも馬鹿にされているように感じるようになった。鼻が短くなり一層笑われるようになってしまった内供は、鼻が短くなったことを逆に恨むようになる。ある夜、内供は鼻がかゆく眠れない夜を過ごしていた。その翌朝に起きると、短かった鼻が元の長い鼻に戻っていた。内供はもう自分を笑う者はいなくなると思った……。 『ピアノ』 あらすじ:震災後の横浜、山の手。或家の崩れた跡にピアノがある。人影のない藜の中でそのピアノの音を「わたし」は聴く……。 『猿蟹合戦』 解説:昔話「猿蟹合戦」のその後の話を描いた短編作品。蟹を始め同志のものが仇を討ったあと彼らが、世の人々からどのように思われ、どのような運命に逢着したかが語られている。Pan Rolling, Inc.
