About this listen

 千住大橋のたもとに注ぎ酒屋があった。雪の日に八百屋の老人が入ってきて酒を一杯頼む。いつものように｢もう半分｣｢もう半分｣とお代わりをして帰ったが、五十両入った風呂敷包みを忘れていった。あわてて引き返してきた老人、娘が吉原へ身を売った金だから返してくれと懇願するが、酒屋夫婦は｢なかった、知らない｣と言って追い返す。老人は悲嘆して、川へ身を投げてしまう。この金で出した店は繁盛して、夫婦には赤ん坊が生まれたが、しわくちゃで身投げした老人そっくり。驚いた女房は赤ん坊を残して死んでしまった。亭主は乳母を雇うが誰も三日ともたない。事情を確かめようと亭主が夜中見張っていると．．。(C)1981 日本コロムビア株式会社 Performing Arts
