Great work by Audible, but story is quite predictable. Best narration and great background music.

Jules Verne’s Around the World in 80 Days is an adventurous and imaginative journey that takes readers across continents, oceans, and cultures. The novel, set in the 19th century, follows the eccentric and punctual Englishman Phileas Fogg as he wagers that he can circumnavigate the globe in just 80 days—a bold claim for the time.

One of the strengths of the novel is its sheer creativity. Verne paints vivid pictures of each destination, from the bustling streets of Bombay to the American Wild West, making the journey feel grand and cinematic. The character of Passepartout, Fogg’s loyal French servant, adds charm and comic relief to the story. Their dynamic, along with the obstacles they face—including weather delays, missing transport, and even a detective hot on their trail—keeps the plot moving at a brisk pace.

That said, I rated it 7/10 because, while the premise is exciting, some parts of the book feel dated or overly descriptive, which can slow down the pacing for modern readers. The characters, though likable, aren’t deeply developed, and at times, the story leans more on coincidence than logic. Additionally, some portrayals of foreign cultures reflect the colonial mindset of the time, which might not sit well with today’s sensibilities.

Despite that, Around the World in 80 Days remains a classic for a reason. It’s a light, entertaining read filled with adventure and clever twists. For those who enjoy travel, history, or imaginative storytelling, it’s well worth the journey—even if it’s not always smooth sailing.
