"Narrator Emmett Grosland conjures the essence of a troubled soul in search of peace in this gentle audio."—AudioFile Magazine

In A Psalm for the Wild-Built, Hugo Award-winner Becky Chambers's delightful new Monk and Robot series gives us hope for the future.

It's been centuries since the robots of Panga gained self-awareness and laid down their tools; centuries since they wandered, en masse, into the wilderness, never to be seen again; centuries since they faded into myth and urban legend.

One day, the life of a tea monk is upended by the arrival of a robot, there to honor the old promise of checking in. The robot cannot go back until the question of "what do people need?" is answered.

But the answer to that question depends on who you ask, and how.

They're going to need to ask it a lot.

Becky Chambers's new series asks: in a world where people have what they want, does having more matter?

The Psalm for the Wild Built takes you through a beautiful journey to say - You don’t have to be defined by a certain purpose, and does so without sounding pretentiously profound or intense. It lets you walk through its profoundness feeling like the warmth of having a simple mug of tea by a fireside. It does justice to its dedication column which says - for anyone in need of a break.

You could just be, and that’s still wonderful!

In a world that often feels rushed and loud, This book is like a refreshing pause—a quiet, thoughtful story that makes you slow down and reflect.

It follows Dex, a tea monk who offers people a warm drink and a listening ear but still feels like something is missing. Seeking answers, they venture into the wilderness and meet Mosscap, a curious robot who asks a simple yet impossible question: What do humans need?

This isn’t a plot-heavy book; it’s about quiet moments, purpose, and the balance between nature and technology. It feels like a comforting chat with a good friend. If you're in a reading slump or need something warm and cozy after heavier reads, this is perfect.

Just don’t expect some sci-fi epic—it’s more of a reflective, slice-of-life story with a robot. The narrator’s performance was amazing and matched the book’s vibe perfectly. I’ll definitely be picking up the sequel soon!

A sweet, yet deeply philosophical cozy SF story. Very relaxing and stress relieving. The world of Panga is unique. Dex and Mosscap are endearing characters too.

Calming story, amazing narrator

Good one if you are looking for an easy one or are in between books but don't expect any eye opening hidden secret of life.
