Publisher's Summary

Delving deep into the darkest corners of horror movies this series explores the highs and lows of the blood and gore genre following, in particular, the changing fortunes of Universal Horror. From Dracula and Frankenstein to The Black Cat, a movie that even Universal executives deemed "too vile for public consumption", and beyond to the influences of science fiction and the new breed of horror films.

Boom!

I have only just discovered Adam Roche and his titles (I have them all) I am completely captivated by his delivery and the quality and passion, which is evident by the quality of his narration. He comes across as devoted to his subject and the content detail to all the stories is fantastic. More titles please, I could listen to you all day long.

Stories of classic Hollywood

If you're fascinated by stories of classic Hollywood, this is the podcast for you. Wonderful stories about the origins of universal and its monster movies. Dracula, Frankenstein, The wolf man and the men who created them. All revered and appreciated for the genius that they brought to the rules and Hollywood.

OMG!!!

This guy's stuff just gets better and better!

An amazingly in-depth knowledge of the subject matter combined with an entertaining narrative and captivating voice makes this a must-listen to audio.

I can't believe Adam Roche audios are free!

I could go on and on about the entertainment value of listening to this. But, I dare you to listen to just 20 minutes of this fee download and stop... I bet you can't!

Captivating, informative and well worth a credit! This should not be free (though, thank you Audible that it is).

Interesting, informative, well written

This podcast has listeners hooked from the start - with the stirring account of Carl Laemmle Sr. plunging into his version of the American dream - and leads them through a gallery of old Hollywood's best monsters. My only gripe with it is that, to my ears, the narrator spoke with an unusual intonation, as if he were constantly trying to hint at some witty unspoken double entendre. It gets weary after a while, but this is by no means a bad performance.

Great!

If you like a bit of screen horror, have an interest in the early years of the studio system, and don't mind a bit of salaciousness - this series is for you. Narration is excellent, and sound design just perfect. I was really surprised how much I enjoyed this freebie.
