In this scripted Audible Original, five mentally ill teenagers in an inpatient wilderness program during the apocalypse face not only the end of the world, but also the end of their prescriptions. Now, they have to figure out what’s real and what’s just a side effect, and keep their wits about them as they fight for their lives and their minds. Apocalypse Untreated is a multi-part, post-apocalyptic thriller brought to life with world class sound design, and performance. The story moves between real-time action, audio diaries, and archival therapy sessions as our central characters struggle for survival in a deteriorating world.

Apocalypse Untreated is created by Gaby Dunn, an actor, podcaster, LGBTQ activist and New York Times best-selling author and focuses on themes of survival, queer identity, and mental health. Also starring, Chanel Ali (Girl Code), Jes Tom (Soojung Dreams of Fiji) Adam Faison (Everything’s Going To Be OK) and a full cast.

excellent adventure!

I loved it, well acted and extremely funny. I'll been looking for more of Gaby Dunn's work..
I also liked the messages around dependency on psychoactive drugs and struggles with withdrawal. Good stuff!

ok but cuts off at the end

it's ok but abruptly ends just as things are getting interesting. A lot of loose ends. Actors were great & the sound effects help build an atmosphere it's just a shame it ended before anything is really figured out

emersive

well written, produced and performed.

Humorous and thought provoking in places.

Hope that the follow-up is done soon as it was left in a good spot to allow the next sequence of events.

Woefully incomplete

spent a lot of time building the characters and premise, while not really providing a lot of plot and intrigue. ended so abruptly . it's like taking a couple of uppers , bit by bit, and just when the high is kicking in, only to have a whole bottle of downers shoved down the throat.

Awesome Podcast

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this podcast as I was intrigued by the premise of dealing with mental illness and a lack of meds during an apocalypse.
The characters were interesting and realistic and I hope there is a second season so that we can find out what happens next.

Gripping story but short on coclusion

This is a gripping story. Frustrating that each episode is so short and i haven't figured out how to make them just roll on to the next. Very interesting look at how a group of very self obsessed teens have to cope and learn to look out for each other. Ending leaves a lot to your imagination.

absolute garbage.

absolute pro-democrat propaganda piece. if you want your intelligence insulted waste your time. if you're a leftist you'll love if there's enough implied trump derangement pro communist garbage to tide you until your next Michelle Obama or CNN episode

Unique apocolypse story but thats all...

loved the synopsis and was disappointed by the cast. It was narrated as if they were sitting around the table doing a cold read of the script. there was no real depth their portrayal of their characters and they were not able to grab my attention and hold on to it.

Great listen. funny and touching

Not what I expected but I was super impressed with the sensitive but funny way they handled the stigmatised topic of mental health. Really felt the funny bits were funny and the serious moments land very well.

mental awareness

this had the potential to be a real eye opener for those of us with mental health issues. The chapters were too short in time length, they could have been merged to make them longer. you hardly had time to enjoy the 6 minute long chapters before down loading the next chapter. There was a powerful message to be conveyed, but sadly missed due to chapter time distractions. Fix it and this story will reveal what the author intended.

A little unbelievable

I didn’t like the story to be honest and it all felt a little too contrived to drive home messages about mental health. The short chapters make it frustrating to listen to as have to keep going back to library and playing next chapter.

Worth your time

This was a surprisingly enjoyable find. Engaging story and characters that felt real. I love a bit of apocalyptic fun and was not disappointed with this believable story.

Worth giving a chance

At first I found the story/style hard to get into but by the end I wanted more.
