What is it about the hard questions in life that make us sink back and avoid them? Is it the awkwardness? The unknown? The not fully understanding the topic? It could be any number of these things or others but what we are asking this week on the podcast is, why not talk about it?
That's why the wonderful and talented Kendall Mariah wrote this book on this very topic. She isn't afraid to go to those hard topics and talk about them. She knows that when we do, our faith can be strengthened. why? Because when we take those hard topics to God he is faithful to respond and meet us right where we are. What a great God we serve!
So many people are looking back to 2016, and for Kendall, in 2016 she founded Unapologetic Ministry, a blog and community focused on topics that are often-taboo in the church--infertility, depression, anxiety, and eating disorders, just to name a few. She is an influencer, author and Bible study leader. Kendall and her husband, Justin, are currently remodeling a 1937 colonial home in their hometown of Benson, North Carolina, where she loves to share a glimpse into their small-town life.
This is one of those books you will want to read with a friend so you can practice those hard conversations in a safe place.
Conversation Highlights:
- All of scripture is connected & it’s overarching theme is the story of God’s redeeming plan
- We can have the same determined loyalty as Ruth in following Christ
- A daily desire to be in relationship with God can be simple
- Jesus shows us what a relationship with God looks like so we can be redeemed
- God will faithfully meet you with his redeeming love when you go to scripture
