About this listen
Sometimes what we need most is a shift in perspective. Psalm 36 helps us refocus when the troubles, enemies, and uncertainties of life begin to feel overwhelming. In verses 5–9, the psalmist lifts his eyes from the chaos around him to the character of God. His mercy reaching to the heavens, His faithfulness extending to the clouds, His righteousness firm like mountains, and His lovingkindness abundant. When we fixate on our circumstances, they can seem insurmountable. But when we fix our eyes on who God is, everything changes. God is faithful. God preserves. God satisfies. God gives life and light. As we remember His greatness and goodness, our perspective shifts, our confidence grows, and we are strengthened to take the next step forward in faith.
