About this listen

Good afternoon! I'm Aaron Jolly, and welcome to the Texas Weather Podcast. It's Saturday, February 24th, folks, and Texas is running two seasons at once today. Here's the deal. Down in South Texas, it's basically summer. You're seeing 82 degrees with north winds pushing 12 to 21 miles an hour. That breeze is the only thing keeping it honest. Tonight stays balmy near 70. Slide over to the Gulf Coast and you're still feeling 78 degrees. A slight chance of showers, but most of you stay dry. Overnight lows barely dip into the upper 60s. Perfect patio weather if you ask me. Now drive north and watch that thermometer drop like your phone battery at a music festival. Central Texas lands at a comfortable 73 degrees. Gusty winds from 15 to 20 miles an hour, though. Tonight cools into the mid 50s. Not bad at all. But North Texas? You're the odd one out at 63 degrees. Quiet skies, light winds, zero rain. Tonight you'll want a jacket as lows settle into the upper 40s. That's nearly 20 degrees cooler than the coast. Quick note on air quality. It's moderate today, so sensitive groups should ease up on heavy outdoor activity. And here's a bright spot. We're gaining almost two minutes of daylight every day now. Sunset tonight hits at 6:25. Here's your heads up for the week ahead. The Gulf Coast and South Texas hold onto those 80s through Wednesday. Central Texas climbs back into the upper 70s by midweek. North Texas finally warms up, rebounding near 70 by Tuesday. No storms lurking anywhere. Just a steady, spring like warming trend sliding across the whole state. One more thing. If you're enjoying these daily updates, share us with a friend. It really does help more Texans find us. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Stay safe out there!
