About this listen

Good afternoon, folks! I'm Aaron Jolly, and welcome to the Maine Weather Podcast. It's Saturday, February 17th, and winter is doing exactly what winter does best. Here's the deal. Step outside in Portland and you're right at 32 degrees. Freezing, but barely. A light north wind at 5 to 10 miles an hour keeps things honest. There's a slight chance of flurries, but nothing that'll stick to your windshield. Now head up the coast. Downeast and Midcoast, you're sitting at 28 degrees. Dry and quiet. Bangor checks in at 29. Central Maine, 30. Pretty tight spread there. The Western Mountains? That's your cold spot today at 26 degrees. A light northeast breeze makes it bite a little harder. Perfect conditions up at Sugarloaf if you're chasing turns this weekend. And up in Aroostook, you're at 28 degrees with gusts hitting 13 miles an hour. That wind finds every gap in your jacket. Tonight temperatures slide into the teens and low 20s statewide. Winds ease off. Tomorrow brings a slight bump, mid 30s along the coast, upper 20s inland. Here's your heads up for the week ahead. No major storms lurking. That's the good news. You'll want to enjoy this quiet stretch because February always has one more trick. A gradual warming trend pushes highs back toward normal by midweek. Think low to mid 30s for most of us. Still winter, but the kind that doesn't hurt your face. One bright spot worth celebrating. Sunrise hit 6:32 this morning, and we're gaining almost three minutes of daylight every single day. You can feel it. Tides running high in Portland today, 9.7 feet at 1:33 this afternoon. Air quality is solid, so bundle up and get outside. Alright. If you're enjoying these daily updates, share us with a neighbor. Word of mouth keeps this thing going. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Stay safe out there!
