About this listen

In this special episode, Dr. Dav joins The Collective Church as a guest teacher to address one of the most debated areas of Scripture: the role of women and men in leadership, marriage, and the life of the church.

Beginning in Genesis, Dr. Dav lays a biblical foundation for understanding men and women as equal image-bearers, created as necessary partners reflecting the glory of God. He explains how sin fractured this relationship—introducing rivalry, domination, and the misuse of strength—and how the gospel of Jesus Christ restores what was broken, calling believers back into mutual honor and shared responsibility.

From there, Dr. Dav carefully walks through the Pauline epistles, showing how passages from Corinthians, Ephesians, and Timothy must be read within their historical and cultural context. He explains how Greco-Roman household laws, local customs, and false teaching shaped the problems Paul was addressing—and why those texts are corrective rather than restrictive. Special attention is given to Ephesians 5, where mutual submission flows from being filled with the Spirit, and to Paul’s radical insistence that women should learn doctrine in cultures that denied them education.

Throughout the teaching, Dr. Dav demonstrates how Scripture consistently affirms women as spiritual leaders, prophets, teachers, and witnesses—from the Old Testament through the early church—and why biblical authority is rooted in service, sacrifice, and covenant, not control.

This episode invites listeners to read the Bible with greater care, to resist cultural distortion—ancient or modern—and to embrace the gospel’s power to restore men and women to their shared calling in Christ.

Dr. Dav holds a B.A. in Management and Organizational Leadership, a Master of Divinity (MDiv), a Master of Theology (ThM), and a Doctor of Ministry (DMin). Each week, various staff hosts from Heritage Church NW sit down with Dr. Dav to revisit recent sermons, unpack biblical miracles, and explore the spiritual questions people are genuinely wrestling with. Every conversation encourages listeners to slow down, sit in the “wow” of what Jesus is doing, and discover the layers of truth, hope, and transformation woven throughout the Bible.
