About this listen

Good morning. Florida. I'm Aaron Jolly. If you're driving in before sunrise. Dense fog from last night's drizzle is hanging around North Florida and the coast. Visibility drops to a quarter mile in spots. Take it slow until 9 A.M when this burns off. Once it clears? We're cranking up the heat. Highs hit the mid 80s across most of the state — that's about 63 degrees warmer than normal for early March. Tampa Bay and North Florida top out at 86 degrees. Central Florida matches that at 85. South Florida, you're slightly cooler at 80 degrees along the coast thanks to that steady east breeze. Inland areas could flirt with the upper 80s. We're talking near-record territory. Here's what's driving this warmth. High pressure over the western Atlantic is pumping moist air across the peninsula. That sets up afternoon sea breezes that could spark isolated showers and maybe a stray thunderstorm. North Florida has the best chance between 1 and 3 P.M. Central Florida sees a brief shower window around 4 P.M. South Florida might catch a sprinkle late, but most of you stay dry. Tonight, lows fall to the mid to upper 60s statewide. That fog returns after midnight, especially near the coast. Looking ahead. Saturday brings more of the same — mid to upper 80s with isolated afternoon showers. Sunday stays warm but drier. Early next week holds steady in the 80s with low rain chances. By Thursday, a weak front approaches from the north, bumping up storm chances slightly. Stay hydrated out there. This is summertime heat arriving early. See you tomorrow. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast See you tomorrow.
