About this listen

Good morning. West Virginia. I'm Aaron Jolly. Step outside and you'll feel it. That damp, heavy air. We picked up over half an inch of rain overnight. Currently sitting at 61 degrees under gray skies, but that soggy start clears out as we move through the day. Patchy fog lifts by mid-morning. Then Here comes partly sunny skies with temperatures climbing into the low to mid 70s across most of the state. Central West Virginia tops out near 81 degrees. The Northern Panhandle reaches 73. Southern areas hit 74. Light southwest winds keep things pleasant — perfect weather for a lunchtime walk if you ask me. There's a slight chance of an isolated shower or brief thunderstorm this afternoon. Nothing widespread, just something to keep in mind if you're spending time outdoors. Tonight stays mild with mostly clear skies. Lows drop to the upper 50s to low 60s statewide. The Storm Prediction Center has us under a Slight Risk for severe weather Saturday. Damaging winds are the primary concern. A tornado or two can't be ruled out along the frontal boundary. Some storms could produce hail as well. Charge your phones and secure anything loose outside before tomorrow afternoon. Rain continues Saturday night. Sunday sees lingering showers with highs in the low to mid 60s before drier weather returns Monday. Another system approaches midweek with more rain and possible thunderstorms Wednesday. Enjoy the calm today. The weekend brings the action. See you tomorrow. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast See you tomorrow.
