About this listen

In this episode of Another Bloody Podcast, Share the Dignity founder Rochelle Courtenay sits down with Caitlin, a former recipient of an It’s in the Bag donation who later became a proud Share the Dignity volunteer, also known as a Shero.

Caitlin shares her experience of moving from Tasmania to Melbourne in her early twenties while navigating youth homelessness, mental health challenges and the uncertainty of not knowing where she would sleep next. During that time, she received an It’s in the Bag donation filled with period products, toiletries, makeup, a hairbrush and a Christmas card from a stranger - a gesture she still remembers years later.

Together, Rochelle and Caitlin explore the realities of homelessness, period poverty, polycystic ovaries, IVF, pregnancy loss, motherhood, and the power of community support. Caitlin’s story is one of survival, healing and full-circle generosity, showing how one small act of kindness can stay with someone long after the moment has passed.

Because dignity is more than access to products. It is being reminded that you are worthy, cared for and not forgotten.
