Luna is driving through the high desert at 2 AM, exhausted, when she pulls into a motel that shouldn't exist—a two-story faded-blue motor court with a flickering vacancy sign. The clerk is a woman in her fifties with a scar across her throat, who speaks without moving her lips. She gives Luna Room 8 and tells her not to open the connecting door to Room 9, no matter what she hears.
