It was late October, just before Halloween, when I found myself scrolling through a forgotten CCTV feed from a boarded-up motel on the outskirts of Drayton, Ohio. The feed showed nothing but a dim hallway on the second floor — peeling wallpaper, a flickering sconce, a door at the end with the number seven.
