Everyone "knows" the people of Pompeii were frozen mid-bite. That Vikings wore horned helmets. That Napoleon was tiny. Hang on a minute. None of that is true.
The Truth Is Weirder is the history show that checks the story, made for curious kids aged 9 to 13 (and the adults stuck happily in the front seat). Every episode, a famous history "fact" goes on trial. Cass tells the story the way everyone knows it, full of confidence, films and half-remembered rumour. Pip wants the evidence: a letter, a dig, a tapestry, an actual report card. The myth gets busted, the real story turns out stranger than the fake one, and nobody gets made to feel silly for believing it, because we all believed it.
For parents: every episode is fact-checked against primary sources before it is recorded, and when historians genuinely are not sure, we say so, because "we don't actually know" is a real answer and kids deserve to hear it. There is no scary content played for horror, no ads aimed at children, and nothing loud, dumb or factually loose. Under the laughs, the show teaches one durable skill: asking "how do we actually know that?" It is the same method every episode: find the claim, find the earliest evidence, check who was actually there, and see what survives. Great for the car, the dinner table and the classroom, and built to be argued about afterwards.
New episodes weekly. A Jamzel Studio production.

A note for grown-ups: this show is produced with AI tools under close human direction by Jamzel Studio. Real people choose the topics, research each episode, fact-check it against primary sources and sign off on the final audio before it reaches you. The voices you hear are AI, the history is human-checked, and nothing goes out that we would not happily play for our own kids.
