The Rooted Mother is a Christian motherhood podcast for overwhelmed moms seeking biblical encouragement through postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, anxiety, mom guilt, motherhood overwhelm, and the everyday challenges of raising a family. If you're looking for hope, healing, and practical encouragement rooted in God's Word, you're in the right place.

For years, I battled anxiety, postpartum depression, panic attacks, and the overwhelming belief that I wasn't enough as a mom. I loved my children deeply, but there were days I felt like I was simply surviving instead of enjoying motherhood.

Everything began to change when I stopped trying to carry motherhood on my own and started rooting my life in Christ.

I'm Michelle, a wife, homeschooling mom of four, former public school teacher, military spouse, and the founder of Rooted & Thriving. Through every move, every season of loneliness, every anxious thought, and every hard day of motherhood, God has faithfully met me with His peace. Now my mission is to help other Christian moms experience that same hope.

Each week on The Rooted Mother, you'll find honest conversations about:

• Postpartum depression and postpartum anxiety
• Motherhood anxiety and mom guilt
• Biblical encouragement for Christian moms
• Christian parenting and raising children with faith
• Marriage and motherhood
• Homeschooling and family life
• Spiritual growth and trusting God in hard seasons
• Finding peace in Christ instead of living in survival mode

Whether you're navigating the newborn stage, recovering from postpartum depression, chasing toddlers, homeschooling your children, or simply longing to become the mother God created you to be, this podcast will encourage you with biblical truth, practical wisdom, and the reminder that you never have to walk motherhood alone.

  • Waiting on God? What the Wilderness Season Is Really Teaching You | Christian Encouragement for Moms

Have you ever wondered why God allows wilderness seasons?

If you're waiting on God, struggling with anxiety, walking through mom burnout, facing postpartum depression, or simply wondering why life feels so hard right now, this episode is for you.

In today's episode of The Rooted Mother, we're diving into Numbers 9 and uncovering a beautiful truth that completely changed the way I see seasons of waiting.

For years, I believed the wilderness was where God had abandoned His people.

But Scripture tells a different story.

    The wilderness wasn't punishment.
    It was preparation.

I'll share my own story of moving to Pennsylvania, watching everything I thought God was building seem to fall apart, and how looking back, I can now see that God was preparing my family for something far greater than I could have imagined.

We'll also explore how the wilderness appears throughout Scripture—from Moses to Elijah to Jesus—and why God so often does His deepest work in the seasons we would never choose for ourselves.

    If you've been asking:

    • Why am I still waiting on God?
    • Why does God allow difficult seasons?
    • Is God still with me in my anxiety?
    • How do I trust God when nothing seems to be changing?
    • What does the Bible say about wilderness seasons?

I pray this episode encourages your heart.

In this episode, we'll talk about:

    • What the wilderness represents in the Bible
    • The surprising meaning of the Hebrew word midbar
    • Why God stopped Israel in the wilderness before the Promised Land
    • How remembering God's faithfulness strengthens our faith
    • What God may be teaching you during your waiting season
    • Why your wilderness isn't wasted

    Scripture Mentioned

    • Numbers 9
    • Exodus and the Passover
    • Moses and the burning bush
    • Elijah in the wilderness
    • Jesus' forty days in the wilderness

  • Stop Waiting to Feel Like a "Good Mom" (Why "You're a Good Mom" Used to Trigger Me)
    Jul 27 2026

Have you ever wondered, "Am I a good mom?" If you're struggling with postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, mom guilt, or the overwhelming feeling that you're failing as a mother, this episode is for you.

In this episode of The Rooted Mother, I share why hearing the words "You're such a good mom" became one of my biggest triggers during my battle with postpartum depression. While everyone around me thought I had it together, I was silently battling anxiety, shame, comparison, and the constant belief that I would never be enough.

Together we'll talk about what it means to see Christian motherhood through a biblical lens instead of the impossible standards the world places on moms. I'll share how God used His Word to transform my view of motherhood, replace mom guilt with His truth, and remind me that He calls us to faithfulness, not perfection.

If you're an overwhelmed Christian mom battling anxiety, postpartum depression, comparison, or the pressure to be the "perfect mom," I pray this conversation reminds you that you are not alone and that God's grace is enough for today.

    In this episode, you'll learn:

    • Why hearing "You're a good mom" made me feel like a fraud
    • My personal journey through postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, and overwhelming mom guilt
    • How social media fueled my comparison and feelings of failure
    • What the Bible actually says about biblical motherhood
    • The difference between conviction and shame
    • Why God calls us to faithfulness instead of perfection
    • How to replace mom guilt with God's truth and find your identity in Christ

What happens when the motherhood you've always dreamed of becomes the hardest season of your life?

In this very first episode of The Rooted Mother, I'm sharing the story I've carried for years, the story behind this podcast and the journey that changed my life forever.

After experiencing three back-to-back pregnancies, years of untreated postpartum depression, overwhelming anxiety, and feeling completely lost in motherhood, I found myself believing I had failed. Therapy gave me tools to begin healing, but it was through Christ that I discovered the lasting peace my heart had been searching for.

If you've ever struggled with mom guilt, postpartum depression, maternal mental health, anxiety, or simply wondered why motherhood feels so much harder than you expected, this episode is for you. My prayer is that as you listen, you'll be reminded that you are not alone, your story isn't over, and there is hope, even in your hardest season.

In this episode, we'll talk about:

    • My journey through postpartum depression and anxiety
    • The shame and isolation so many moms silently carry
    • How faith transformed the way I see motherhood
    • Why I created The Rooted Mother
    • The hope and encouragement you can expect from future episodes
