The Quirt is a gripping Western adventure set in the rugged cattle country of early twentieth-century Idaho. Britt Hunter and his old friend Frank have spent years eking out a living on the Quirt ranch, a modest outfit hemmed in on nearly all sides by the sprawling Sawtooth Cattle Company. At her side is Lone, a steadfast cowboy who tries his best to stay out of other people's business — and finds he cannot. The novel examines the quiet strength required to endure isolation, hardship, and disappointment, particularly within the bonds of family and loyalty, as pride and emotional restraint shape the choices of those hardened by landscape and labor.
