Alauddin Khalji's reign saw the Delhi Sultanate expand beyond the Vindhyas into the wealthy Deccan and beyond. This episode follows the extraordinary campaigns of Malik Kafur, a former Hindu slave and eunuch who became Alauddin's most trusted general. Between 1308 and 1311, Kafur led three lightning raids: first against the Yadava kingdom of Devagiri, forcing King Ramachandra to submit; then against the Kakatiya capital Warangal, extracting a massive tribute that included—according to legend—the Koh-i-Noor diamond; and finally plunging to the southern tip of India, sacking Madurai and the Pandya kingdom, even reaching the shores of Rameswaram. We explore how Kafur's campaigns flooded Delhi with gold, elephants, and slaves, bankrolling Alauddin's economic reforms and military machine. Using contemporary sources like Ziauddin Barani's Tarikh-i-Firuz Shahi and Amir Khusrau's Khazainul Futuh, we piece together the strategy, the brutality, and the logistics of one of medieval India's most audacious military expansions. We also discuss Kafur's later role as regent and his betrayal of Alauddin's successors. This is a story of ambition, plunder, and the fragile unity of power in the Delhi Sultanate. #MalikKafur #AlauddinKhalji #DeccanCampaigns #MedievalIndia #DelhiSultanate #IndianHistory #Kakatiya #Prataparudra #Yadava #Pandya #Warangal #Madurai #Kohinoor #SultanateExpansion #14thCentury #SouthAsianHistory #FexingoHistory #History Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
