Story
It was just a typical Monday. Until the big boss asked me to make the pitch for a prospective new client. After two years on shaky ground at work because of my screw up, an opportunity to impress the senior partners was just what I needed. Or so I thought, until I walked into the conference room and collided with the man I was supposed to pitch to. My coffee spilled, my files tumbled to the ground, and I almost lost my balance. And that was the good part of my day. Because the gorgeous man who crouched down and looked at me like he wanted to eat me alive was none other than my ex.

The first time I met Chase Parker, I didn't exactly make a good impression. I was hiding in the bathroom hallway of a restaurant, leaving a message for my best friend to save me from my awful date. He overheard and told me I was a bitch, then proceeded to offer me some dating advice. So I told him to mind his own damn business and went back to my miserable date. I couldn't help but sneak hidden glances at the condescending jerk on the other side of the room. Of course, he caught me on more than one occasion, and winked.

Publisher's Summary
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Sylvia Day comes the first novel in the Crossfire series - a provocative masterstroke of abandon and obsession that redefined the meaning of desire, and became a global phenomenon.
Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness...
He was beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I’d never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily...
Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other’s most private wounds...and desires.
The bonds of his love transformed me, even as I prayed that the torment of our pasts didn’t tear us apart...

Is there such thing as too much sex?
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No. I don't know anyone that would be comfortable sitting through THAT much sex.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
THAT'S IT?!? What about the ex, does he drop her? What were the nightmares about? What happens to the roommate and Cross's brother?
Which scene was your favorite?
Any part that didn't have to do with constant bickering then fucking, bickering then fucking, bickering then fucking. Too much bickering then fucking! I wish there a little more to the story.
Was Bared to You worth the listening time?
Yeah I guess so. Although there was alot of eye rolling and wanting to throw my phone out the window while driving... "Oh yay they're bickering again... aaaand now fucking."
Any additional comments?
I wish the author had went more into detail on Cross's nightmares and his past. The social gatherings were entertaining.I feel like they should have included more about the krav maga or left it out entirely. Ava was a little too high maintenance and whiny.

TOUCHING & EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER OF PASSION
Firstly, I cannot compare this awesome listen to FSOG as I haven't yet listened to the raved over book but all I can do is review this one.
This book totally consumed me as it unfolded to tell the heart renching story of two previously sexually abused people slowly learning to trust in each other, letting go of their pasts and eventually love again. I fell in love with Gideon not because he was handsome, filthy rich, successful at everything he did but because he was sooo vulnerable, caring and thoughtful when it came to Eva. He thought his life was just fine and wanted for nothing....... until he met her eyes - then sparks flew and they very quickly turned into embers which ignited into burning hot flames of passion filled pages.
Good plot, great primary and secondary characters and lots of 'hot and heavy' all go into the mix to create a well written and well narrated exceptional listen.
Worth a credit? DEFINATELY, TOTALLY and ABSOLUTELY YES.

This book was beyond amazing for me!
I listened to the Fifty Shades trilogy twice back to back. And I loved every second of it. Then I went into an emotional detox and started listening to paranormal romances for a few weeks. Just when I was starting to miss fifty a little, Bared to you came out promising to be a substitute for FSoG. It was not... But I must clarify that I really liked both books. Enough about fifty.
Bared to You is the story of Eva and Gideon, two very beautiful, filthy rich people that fall madly in love. The thing is they are kind of crazy, and not the fun kinda crazy, but the you'll-Need-therapy-the-rest-of-your-life kind of crazy. They have both been victims of sexual abuse when kids and they don't really know how to have a normal happy healthy relationship. The interesting thing is that their sexual abuse made them a little cookoo but did not affect their libido of sexual performance. At. All. Hot chemistry!
Bring in secondary stories about the bi-sexual, also insane but ridiculously gorgeous roommate that Eva has (Cary). Eva's controlling mother and Gideon's very misterious family and you have a story that is very interesting, unpredictable and did I mention HOT!
If you loved fifty and are looking for another version of the story, please note that this is different, more psychological and intense. No BDSM at all.
Now to the merits as an audiobook: this is fifty shades better. Jill Redfield did an amazing job with all the voices. The emotions she brought to the narration were just flawless. Distinct voices for each characters and exellent tones for the love scenes. I was very surprised to see that this is the only audiobook available that she has narrated. I definitely look forward to more books narrated by her.
Can't wait for the next book: Reflected in You...

cheesy! don't get all the great reviews.
Any additional comments?
I like a sex driven book as much as the next person, but this book was just ridiculous and so cheesy! I purchased it based on all of the stellar reviews, but it had me laughing at it during some points. It felt like it was written by an old-fashioned person's idea of what a relationship like that would be like, what talking dirty sounds like, etc... For me, the thing that makes a book like this enjoyable is when the relationship is the foundation and the sex/conflict is more secondary and used to further that relationship. But every time there was an issue, Gideon would respond with, "you need to get laid." Like....all the time. And there wasn't very much dialogue to establish their relationship in the first place. Plus, it was the same descriptive scene over and over and over...and over again. Kinda silly.
I didn't buy into it.
Jill Redfields narration was a mixed bag. She was pretty good as Ava, but whenever she was channeling Gideon, she sounded like Buffalo Bill in Silence of the Lambs. ha ha! I kept expecting her to say, "Precious...! Preeeecious!" It was pretty bad and spot on. It had me laughing.

STOP!! This IS what you are looking for!
If you are a Fifty Shades fan then you found your next fix. In fact, you have found a better fix. One that Fifty could not provide! Why? Well, I am always happy for someone in the Minor Leagues to step up and hit a home run out of the park, but nothing is as beautiful as watching the pro's do it.
Even if your not a Fifty's fan you may prefer that you never read Fifty and just found these books instead... how do I know? I don't know you, so I don't know. :)
At first I was tired of the roller coaster of emotions from the main character Ava that I was going to strangle her myself. But as I settled into the book I soon realized where the author was taking me and it was a delicious ride for sure.
Jill Redfield narrating is AMAZING! Really do I need to say more if she is AMAZING?
Perfection, nailed it, touchdown, home run, SCORE!! She made this book a thrill to listen too and at times had me really blushing.
This was my first experience with Sylvia Day's books and I am a fan. I can't wait for the final book of this series but I am also going to check out her other books and pray they are as thrilling as this.
Happy Reading! :))

Completely Pointless
For the life of me I can’t see why these two fell in love. Seems like the entire book was just her completely overreacting to minor things and then them fucking to make up. Mix in random glimpses of their tortured pasts that seemingly had absolutely no impact on the (nonexistent) plot and I just was left confused. Way too much of the same boring sex scene and not enough plot/romance. Cannot for the life of me see how there is a sequel, much less four other books! Will be returning.

I was nearly bored to death by the end.
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
If the book wasn't so closely related to 50 Shades
What was most disappointing about Sylvia Day’s story?
Much too graphic with the sex
What three words best describe Jill Redfield’s voice?
Pleasant, Theatrical, and good lower voice for the male characters
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
disappointment
Any additional comments?
It is like she just continued on a much more graphic trail from 50 shades. I felt as though I was reading a porn.

Narrator Great, Story Awful
The narrator gives a stunning performance, and that's the only reason I liked this story at all.
It's basically Fifty Shades all over again, except that this time the heroine also has money. Gag. Two self-absorbed, incredibly immature one percenters, who could be spending their time and money giving back to the world, instead freak out constantly over the stupidest things while obsessing over sex. Seriously, I detest the characters in this book, and the story is unconvincing and boring.

Bared to you leaves you wanting to know what is going to happen next. It just wets the appetite leaving you wanting more and will be listening to the next book as soon as I've written this. You want to no what has made them the way they are and if they will make it through. You also feel for the same the people around them especially his sister.
As for Jill Redfield's narration she is exceptional her tones and the little things she adds make it easy to listen and get lost in the story.

Different
I have mixed feelings about this book, and I'm still not sure what I really made of it. On one hand I finished it so it must have been ok, but even by the end I cant get over Gideons strange voice. Maybe they should have brought in a male voice actor as I was struggling to feel the chemistry with that voice.

I normally read fantasy but was bought 50 shades and then this was recommended to me. Excellent book the language is real and the story was excellent. Nice to see characters that have issues, makes them seem very real. Can't wait for the next two :p

50 shades at a faster pace
After listening to the 50 shades books I was left wanting more like most others, so I stumbled apon this as a recommendation and was not disappointed its fast, sexy and uses real words unlike 50 shades using "he touched my sex". I just wish it was longer and looking forward to the next instalment.

A little bit over it
Seeing as I was going to a convention where Sylvia Day was present, I thought I should try reading one of her novels. Unfortunately I was pretty short on time, so I decided to listen to Bared to You (the first book in the Crossfire series) in the car instead. I swear, this book seemed to go on forever. This is just not my kind of read, but others (particularly those who enjoyed Fifty Shades of Grey or other books with super alpha male heroes) will like it. It’s not that this book is poorly written, it’s just that the sex/argument/sex/argument thing got a bit boring for me over time.
The book starts off as Eva gets a job in New York City and is ready to start an adult life, leaving the demons of her past behind. Her mother is way overprotective (she tracks Eva’s mobile phone!), beyond what is reasonable. Eva isn’t short of money either, and lives in a nice apartment with her friend Cary. (No romance there, just friendly sparring – Cary is bisexual, so there’s opportunity for some interesting sex scenes there). She meets gazillionaire Gideon Cross in the skyscraper she works in (and he owns) and he’s keen to know her more, but Eva resists. You know of course that she’ll give in and that starts an incredibly intense and emotional relationship. (I’m surprised my iPod didn’t melt in the process of playing this story). Eva has trouble with trust and being in the spotlight, but she reveals her past to Gideon. He responds by being even more protective, but I don’t think he tells Eva directly about his past (yeah, I Wikipedia’d it to find out what happens in the series). I might have missed this. Anyway, there’s a lot of sex, breaking up and making up.
I’m definitely over this kind of story – I wanted to know more about the minor characters, like Eva’s mum. Why exactly is she overprotective of Eva? Is it just guilt over what happened to her in her previous marriage? What’s the deal with Cary? I bet he’s got an interesting story to tell too beyond his sex life.
The narration of this story is fantastic though – Jill Redfield acts it out brilliantly (yes, complete with orgasm moments). She did a really good growly voice as Gideon too. Her narration is one of the best I’ve heard. Unfortunately the story was just overlong and repetitive for me. I want to know more of the backstories – why is Gideon so rich so young? Is it plain hard work and some luck, or something more? The animosity with his family, yet the ability to ravish Eva in the family home? I do have loads of questions, but I’m not that interested in wading through a lot of sex and arguments to get there. I can understand why this series is popular, but it’s not for me. The characters are immature and don’t seem to grow or learn from their mistakes.
I think this is one of the reasons I’ve gone off romance – I can get my conflict elsewhere with a more varied storyline.

"If you loved 50 Shades - Then you will ADORE this
FANTASTIC!
Hadn't read the book first so it was just an absolute treat!!!!!!
I have no idea how Sylvia Day has flown under my radar all this time but what an absolute delight to have found her. This is a great story, with characters that just caught me from page one. I cannot wait to read/listen to the entire three books of this trilogy!
And along with that was the perfect narration of Jill Redfield, another first for me and I will be looking for her name again.
Both main characters are so agonizingly flawed, and yet they complete each other, it's not the usual boy meets girl, problem, happy ending ..... oh no its messier than that.
In my top 5 - spend that credit now.
Cheers:)

Not much of a storyline...
Really not sure how there can be so many sex scenes in EVERY chapter. I'm a fan of erotica but this was over the top.

Leaves 50 shades in the dust.
Id previously read the Crossfire series (5 books) and was looking forward to revisiting.
I was not disappointed, the narrators did a wonderful job.
If you were a fan of 50 shades of Grey you will love this series,

Not sure what all the rave is about..!
The story gives you whip lash back and forth, up and down and it’s based on a time period of 1-2 months! The narrator is the icing on the cake of my dislike towards this book..! Her impression of Gideon is cringe worthy..! I’ll be buying the hard copies for this reason.

A housewife must read
Enjoyed the book immensely, one thing I didn’t like thought some of the language but it adds to the story another thing I like about the story was that it show that people that have troubled up brings can still find love.
