Publisher's Summary

Experience the psalms like never before - through heart-pounding fiction!

When Babylon destroys Jerusalem, as Yahweh warned through his prophets, the captives' bitterness and grief pours out in the Captives' Psalm: "[By the rivers of Babylon] we sat as exiles, mourning our captivity, and wept with great love for Zion. Our music and mirth were no longer heard, only sadness. We hung up our harps on the willow trees." (Psalm 137:1-2, The Passion Translation)

A young Israelite woman is among them, captured by a mercenary Scythian prince. Driven toward Babylon by both hatred and hope, she endures captivity to reunite with her husband. But will he be there when she reaches Babylon? Will the prince risk the Scythian throne - and his life - to believe in the Hebrew God? Can they both find what they seek when they meet the prophet Ezekiel...by the waters of Babylon?

Male narrator for woman?

I actually cannot give this book a full review since I was unable to finish it. But it sounded like a great storyline. Because they had selected a male narrator for some reason, it was very confusing to me and I had to stop listening.

Awful narrator. I regret this purchase

It was hard to tell which character was talking because the narrator did not change his voice much. It was confusing. He also said words very cringy. It took me a little bit to figure out what he was saying. Never heard “dagger” “wagon” and other words with “a”s in it pronounced so terrible. In almost all languages the “a” is pronounced as “ah” not “ay”. The book was not great. I like the incorporation of bible verses. But otherwise the story was uneventful. I would like my money and time back.

Waters of Babylon

I usually prefer longer books, this was definitely the exception. A rich listening experience. Ms. Andrews books though fictional are certainly centered around the Bible. This one of the authors I seek first when I want to listen to great Biblical fiction. Outstanding narrator. As always I plan to enjoy all of Ms. Andrews books.

Biblical Historical Fiction

This was the most unique Biblical book I’ve listened to or read. There are real historical characters from the Bible, but they’re such minor players it barely seems like a Biblical fictional book. The Bible verses from the Psalms seemed like the only proof it had anything to do with the Bible. I was often confused as the narration kept changing from one character’s perspective to another’s. I didn’t feel like any of the characters had enough depth to give me a strong enough description. I enjoyed the story it was just confusing. The narrator did a wonderful job.

Could Not Stop Listening to the Book

So well researched and wtitten. Also it recalled to my memory so many of the passages I read every year. Each time they are still so fresh and new. The narrator was so talented at story telling I did not like it when I needed to turn it off to do my housework or go to bed.
