Contradictory to his wild nature, he is also depicted as having a family, with a beautiful wife and two children. There are many more such varied representations of Shiva, the most prominent of these being the Linga and the Nataraja. The author, Devdutt Pattanaik, introduces listeners to these varied aspects and representations and then sets about interpreting them.

Kautilya, also known as Chanakya and Vishnugupta, wrote the Arthashastra not later than AD 150, though the date has not been conclusively established. Legend has it that he was either a Brahmin from Kerala or from north India; however, it is certain that Kautilya was the man who destroyed the Nanda dynasty and installed Chandragupta Maurya as the King of Magadha. A master strategist who was well-versed in the Vedas and adept at creating intrigues and devising political stratagems, Kautilya's genius is reflected in his Arthashastra.

Story
The Bhagwat Gita is the main sourcebook on yoga and is a concise summary of India’s Vedic wisdom. Yet, remarkably, the setting for this classic spiritual text is an ancient Indian battlefield. In this interpretation of the Gita, the author explains that the essence of the Gita is the equanimity of mind, which is attained by transcending it because mind consciousness is myopic and only spiritual consciousness abounds in universal love and absolute knowledge.

Story
The story of Yayati is perhaps one of the most intriguing and fascinating episodes of Mahabharata. Yayati was a great scholar and one of the noblest rulers of olden times. He followed the shastras and was devoted to the welfare of his subjects. Even the king of gods, Indra, held him in high esteem. Married to seductively beautiful Devyani, in love with her maid Sharmishtha, and father of five sons from two women, Yayati unabashedly declared, 'My lust for pleasure is unsatisfied'. His quest for the carnal continued.

Publisher's Summary
Chanakya was an Indian teacher, philosopher, and royal advisor. He managed the first Maurya emperor Chandragupta’s rise to power at a young age. He is widely credited for having played an important role in the establishment of the Maurya Empire, which was the first empire in archaeologically recorded history to rule most of the Indian subcontinent.
Chanakya is traditionally identified as Kautilya or Vishnu Gupta, who authored the ancient Indian political treatise called Arthasastra. As such, he is considered as the pioneer of the field of economics and political science in India, and his work is thought of as an important precursor to classical economics.

Wisdom of the ancients
Chanakya is labelled by Westernised minds as 'Machiavellian', even though Machiavelli appeared centuries later. The characterisation is fallacious. Machiavelli was a one-man mafia who had figured out the bigger mafia ruling them and wrote about it. Only people with sick minds take Machiavelli's The Prince as a worthy advice. I see it as an expose of the ruling classes of Europe. He can't be a patch on the great Chanakya. Chanakya understood dharma. He taught dharma and he helped established a kingdom that propagated dharma.

Good for peace and calmness.
This book is good to listen to in order to know/view things from the perspective of Chanakya.
This might help you reflect on a few things.
The narration is pretty good in Hindi.
Many things are logical, a few things are not, but that's just because the text of the book is hundreds of years old!
Listening to this book gives a very different sense of calmness and peacefulness.
Go for it if you want to listen to clean and pure Hindi for a change and get a good feeling.

This is a rule book by the Great Chanakya
Chanakya has covered several aspects of dos and don'ts. He was a very strong, aggressive and most successful kingmaker in Indian History. He has given this wisdom based on his own experience and the great Vedas. Some parts you may disagree or find controversial but you cannot ignore his wisdome and philosophy.
