In this volume, Ray also shares some of his experiences while shooting Pather Panchali—his epic debut, and subsequent films, particularly for children. He describes how an entire field of kaash flowers was eaten up by cows before he could shoot his famous scene with the train in Pather Panchali; and how a circus tiger let loose in a bamboo grove chased away a group of curious onlookers in the blink of an eye. Manik Da as The Master Satyajit Ray was called tells stories of hitherto unknown parts of his life. Readers like us who have not had an access to Bengali print media, where parts of these were published, would find so much of this book engrossing and enjoyable. Having read his biography Manik and I, this book proved to be a very nice supplement. At the end, one feels good to get some more humane glimpses of life of the super great Master.

Thoroughly enjoyed the book. It gives good insight into his childhood and very interesting account of his film making. The book ends a bit abruptly.
