Publisher's Summary
Some scars never truly heal.
Life has been slowly improving for DCI Jack Logan lately. Happily settled down with the woman of his dreams and a dog he begrudgingly tolerates, things are finally going Jack’s way.
But could all that be about to change?
When a sadistic killer begins picking off victims on the streets of Inverness, Jack’s boss decides to bring in some outside help. But the new team member is an old flame from Jack’s past who isn’t quite ready to let him go.
And as the dead bodies rack up, the happily ever after that Jack has been building for himself might just be the next victim to fall....
City of Scars is the 14th books in the multimillion-selling DCI Logan Scottish crime fiction series. Perfect for fans of Ian Rankin, LJ Ross, and Stuart MacBride.
"With gripping, twisty-turny plots, unforgettable characters, and a rich vein of laugh-out-loud humour running throughout, if you haven't yet discovered the DCI Logan series, get started now!" (Thrilling Fiction)

Another Great Logan Listen!
Kirk at his best. Great police procedural interspersed with some terrific "laugh out loud " moments! Couple that with another Angus King phenomenal narration performance and it's a real winner!

Series Needs a Re-focus
The reason for why the murderer selected their victims was a stretch. The last made no sense at all. It’s time the author focused back on the crimes and spent less time on the relationships between his characters. The series is moving a bit adrift making it less enjoyable.

Had me laughing and almost crying
Great mystery but mostly a really great character story about the people on the detective team. Funny and touching as well. And great performance by Angus King.

I love these characters
Love the Jack Logan series! Just discovered them. I have rarely belly laughed listening to a crime novel. JD Kirk is brilliant and Angus King’s voice characterizations are spot on!
If you enjoy crime novels, I highly recommend.

Trying
My sampling of these novels finds them to be humorous BUT ... an exceedingly excruciating examination of the minutest details of everyday life. The best part came when I abandoned listening to them.

Needs more mystery
And less dialogue between the staff police. Had to skip chapters when hearing the chit chat. Thanks

City of Scars
I’ve never done this before but these books, the writing and the reading, are at the same time addicting and absolutely fantastic. Some of the best ever. I find myself Googling the characters to see what they look like forgetting they are fictional and the delivery of one narrator. I can only that the author for pace at which he is pumping out such quality stuff. I don’t think I could wait a year between each book. But even still, now that I’m all caught up…get a shifty on!

Even Better
This book in the series is not quite as funny as the one before it. However, I think the story was even better. I recommend it.
Now I have to wait for the next in the series!

A simpler outing for Kirk
There's been some crafty world -building, great characters and wit; but the plot in this one is a little too simple, and the characters are just regular copies of their usual selves. I still enjoyed it,the performance is great, I'll listen to the next one too; hope it has more to it.

disappointing new character...
i am a dedicated Logan fan and snap up every new book. Love the police procedural aspects, Highland setting and team camaraderie.
But I've just hit the bit with Heather -- the female DCI who's a grotesque stereotype of a playground mean girl with a personality disorder. It's painful to witness lovely, funny Shona reduced to scrapping with her. Not entertaining. Just hoping they get back on track. Had to stop listening for now...

I always look forward to a new Jack Logan book. Jack & the team are so entertaining. Angus King is a superb narrator he brings the characters to life. To listen to JD Kirks books are the only way with Angus narrating.

Scarred
I have enjoying a lot of books off audible, but this one just doesn’t do it for me.
The story is pretty much about detectives throwing assaults at each other, it’s depressing and it’s not easy listening to a very strong Scottish accent while your driving.
I am 24 chapters into the book, and the characters are all still whinging whining and bitching at one another. The actual case they are trying to solve, is pretty much dormant and forgotten!
I want to finish it but it’s not going to be good for my mental health!
I wish l never purchased it.

Each one is better and funnier
The writing and the humour get better with each one of the series. JD Kirk gets more sophisticated but the greatest improvement is in the humour. For such a griesly subject, I couldn't stop laughing.
The plot and the completion of the story also see great progress with each book.
I love the characters, Logan and the team are a pleasure to follow.
It's great to have stories where professionals support each other, help each other, and work together for the greater good.

Outstanding
It’s rare in a murder mystery to laugh out loud but this author achieved the combining of the serious, the sad, the sensitivity of the.trauma of some characters with those laugh out loud moments. The expertise of the narrator contributed largely to the success of this audio book.
