What really stood out to me is how Torres makes continuous discovery feel achievable. She breaks it down into habits that can be built into a team's weekly routine — like doing a customer interview every week and using the Opportunity Solution Tree to visualize decisions. These ideas aren’t just theoretical — they’re things I can actually start doing with my team right away.
The concept of “product trios” — PMs, designers, and engineers working together on discovery — really clicked with me. It’s a refreshing shift from the typical siloed approach and reinforces the idea that better decisions come from collaboration.
I also appreciated how concise the book is. There’s no filler, just straight-to-the-point advice, templates, and real-world examples that make it easy to see how to apply what I’ve learned.
Reading this made me realize how often discovery is treated like a one-off project, when it should be a continuous part of building products. This book gave me not just a mindset shift, but a clear process to back it up.
If you're involved in building products — whether you're a PM, designer, engineer, or team lead — I highly recommend it. It's helped me rethink how we can build more customer-centric solutions without waiting for the “perfect” time to start.
