Publisher's Summary

The world is a complex place. A complex place where answers are sometimes hard to find. But in this podcast the economy professor Micael Dahlen asks the seemingly simple questions that lead you on a winding journey into the core of what it means to be a human being.

It might feel like social media is making us dumber, that our nightly scrolling through our phones makes us lesser human beings - but what if the behavior has more to do with distance and empathy to the people that we are trying to connect with than intelligence? After the 'Fast and the Furious' films were released, studies indicate that we actually started speeding faster than before the Premiere. If a film with fast cars makes us drive faster - what happens if we start to "speed-watch" (watching things at double the speed)? And why does the abundance of choice make us less satisfied in life?

In the first three episodes, Micael Dahlen meets some of the worlds most renowned experts and scientists on human behavior and by being compulsively curious, he gets the answers to the questions we never even realised we wanted to ask.

Loved it! Fun & educational.

I found these interactions entertaining and enlightening. From the problems caused by economies shifting from cash to electronic payments, to the issues of quantifying a largely qualitative world and its experiences, this has it all. It hits the soft-spot of being light and informative at the same time.

Narrator needs to SPEAK UP

This would be an interesing recording but it was spoilt by the fact that the interviewer's voice was so quiet I was straining my ears to hear what he was mumbling the whole time. Only listened to first episode therefore. Shame.

Relatable

Great series, I could relate to everything said, I love how we go through our lives, our daily routines, subconsciously dealing with these sometimes small occurrences not knowing how they effect us on a much deeper level, and how these occurrences are a result of something happening much deeper within us. Great series, Narration, Experts, Perspectives, Background Music....

MUST HAVE

found this immediately interesting! Massive range of interesting subjects well researched. My only gripe is the author is so sofly spoken I almost didn't catch what was said but did not put me off as subject matter was SOO interesting can't wait for next one wish this one was longer. I will be looking for more of this person's work elsewhere.

excellent and well rounded listen

I was unsure coming to this book, only because it's not the kind of thing I would normally buy. That said, I didn't buy it!. It was well researched, well read, the narrator's voice was modulated well and sounded lovely. The content was interesting but not overly complicated, the topics varied, the information salient but not too complex for somebody who is not directly involved. The range of topics covered was broad but also interesting. I would love to hear more from this professor and found the whole thing a great balance of comedic, easy, highly informative and entertaining. A must read.
