Publisher's Summary

Reclaim your focus in 48 hours or less.

Do you keep procrastinating? Do you feel restless and unable to focus on your work? Do you have trouble getting excited about major goals?

If so, you might need a dopamine detox.

In today’s world where distractions are everywhere, the ability to focus has become more and more difficult to achieve. We are constantly being stimulated, feeling restless, often without knowing why.

When the time comes to work, we suddenly find an excess of other things to do. Instead of working toward our goals, we go for a walk, grab a coffee, or check our emails. Everything seems like a great idea - everything except the very things we should be doing.

Do you recognize yourself in the above situation?

If so, don’t worry. You’re simply overstimulated.

Dopamine Detox will help you lower your level of stimulation and regain focus in 48 hours or less, so that you can tackle your key tasks.

More specifically, in Dopamine Detox you’ll discover:

  • what dopamine is and how it works
  • the main benefits of completing a dopamine detox
  • three simple steps to implement a successful detox in the next 48 hours
  • practical exercises to eliminate distractions and boost your focus

There's nothing new

The narration is good but there's no value add. The suggestions given by the writer are so obvious even a 18 year old knows this stuff by themselves. Don't waste your credit here.

Read - Act - Get results

This is one of the shortest books I ever read ( listened it as an Audio book) . I liked the way it explained the current situation we are in due to SOCIAL media encroachment and how these Social App try to capture our attention and then our way of our thinking.
All the action items shared at the end of each of the chapters are simple yet powerful way to implement the learning.

Anyone who wish to bring the change in their Productivity through time management must read this book

Makes a lot of sense.

The audio book was very informative. It helped me understand what is happening to me with my strong urges of wanting to binge. Understanding dopamine makes a lot of sense. The author guides you through on how to deal with your intense cravings.

Very Brief, Lacks Depth and Nuance

To be fair this book says "short guide" in the title and it is just that. Mostly recommending having 48 hours to remove things that are stimulating (including emails, social media, television, processed food, exercise, sugar, etc). The book lacked some deeper explanations of how our bodies process and engage with dopamine as well as how this varies between individuals. I would love to have some discussion of ADHD and neuro-atypical individuals and how dopamine can operate differently or the fact that the number one treatment for ADHD is in fact stimulants as well as things like exercise. And also not really explaining how different stimulants do not all provide dopamine the same way (exercise is like an extended release of dopamine that doesn't jerk your system around unlike say a Red Bull energy drink which dumps lots into the system which forces a different response from your body). I think there are some interesting reflections here to explore about how we engage, crave, and justify constant stimulation from our environments despite often seeing diminishing rewards. However I also am tired of the thrust of most personal growth writing which tends to lead to life hacks on your nervous system so you can be MORE production. I am not trying to gear my life around productivity but presence and deep self-care. I am not interested in hustle culture. I appreciate when self-awareness is about learning to honor our nervous system for resiliency and sustainability more than how can I hot wire my nervous system to get more product out of it. But to each their own. I also didn't feel like this explores how some activities release things like oxytocin (which the author discusses brings in more relaxation and suggests reduces dopamine) but also increases dopamine--such as hugs and deep connection with others. Again very quick brief thoughts on how someone might consider reducing stimulation that drives dopamine off the charts but felt lacking in addressing lots of folks whose system may engage differently with dopamine and deeper explanations of the how and why are bodies engage with things like dopamine to begin with.

Short, simple, effective

Although it’s only about an hour to read, I spent about 4 hours on it bc I reread certain portions up to 5x and worked through the workbook at the same time. Highly motivating and easy to understand, the author does a great job of explaining just how important regulating your dopamine is. Thankful for this book and the positive effect it’ll have on my life now that I’ve read it!

Short and sweet but very helpful.

Easy to get through and love the pdf workbook.

I guess it's up to me to implement the tips.

In this fast moving, over stimulating world its very useful and more of us should try this book and the tips it shares.

I worry about the kids of today who are even more over stimulated then my generation.

like it. recommended it. Will look at the other books in the series.

I am applying it to the specific addictions that I have.

basic info, not enough as a book

(apparently) the author has split his material over a number of books, which, personally, i think should have been incorporated here
if this was to be a substantial book.
I found it very basic and not worth the money
