Publisher's Summary

Walk. Scavenge. Destroy. Trade. A simple cycle that's suited Ronin for 185 years. With no clear grasp of his programming, the barren wasteland known as The Dust offers him purpose, a place where his armored undercasing, amped-up processors, and advanced optics can be put to use. The ramshackle towns on the edges of the waste serve merely as resupply stations between increasingly long treks. But one night - one human woman - makes him question everything.

Lara Brooks struggles to survive under the strict rules imposed by the bots in Cheyenne. With her sister missing, she's been on her own for weeks and fears the worst. Her only hope comes from Ronin, a bot she catches spying on her. He promises to provide for Lara and search for her sister. All she has to do is dance. It should be easy; she's done it before. But the longer she spends with Ronin, the harder it is to see him as just another bot.

In a city where humans are relegated to live in squalor, Ronin discovers a threat greater than any in the Dust - Warlord, Cheyenne's tyrannical leader. When Ronin ignores the rules, he unwittingly puts Lara in danger. Warlord is as intolerant of disrespect as he is of mankind.

Contains mature themes.

keeps you enthralled..

This story held me from the first chapter. by the end I was near tears. it's not often you read a book that makes you feel the characters and you feel for them like real people. This is a tear jerker so be prepared! Well worth the read tho!

AI dystopian romance with HEA

Humans made bots who eventually took over after a major war. Now the world is a dystopia. Lara Brooks is struggling to live in a bot controlled territory (called Cheyenne) by a heartless ruler Dust/Warlord. Ronin, a bot with human characteristics, finds and takes in Lara. This is their story; Ronin and Lara's (mature themes). It ends with a HEA and a few tears.

The narrator's are not my favorite, but I still made it through without hating them.

So many feels - ALL the feels

I wasn't really sure what to expect when I started this book, but just to be clear, it's not some lighthearted sci-fi romance. This is a real distopian sci-fi with deep themes about the nature of life and emotions. It was really, really dark in places, as any good post-apocalyptic dystopian story is, but the hope and the love shared by Ronin and Lara tempered the darkness and kept it from being bleak. It was epic and heart wrenching and full of action and tension. I loved both the characters. Lara was strong, full of fortitude despite the way life kept kicking her when she was down. Ronin's journey to find his meaning in life, and understand his connection to Lara and his own emotions, was moving and very relatable. He might have been a "bot" but I never questioned his humanity. The ending of the book was super satisfying, if a bit bittersweet, and made me teary-eyed. I really felt like I ran the gamut of feels with this book, and it's the sort of story that will linger with you afterwards. I've read most of the books Tiffany Roberts has written and she's definitely one of my favorite romance novelists, and I hope more of her books get released on audiobook.

Well damn made me cry on lunch break

At first Laura annoyed me but as her trust and love grew for Ronin she wasn’t so bad :) I love how they found each other and discovered how much of the world was theirs to be had. Now the ending.... I had to leave the break room I didn’t want to look like a wimp lol no the ending was absolutely beautiful and utterly heart breaking. Enjoy this book.

Blah

The story is slow and doesn’t show any signs of picking up. The male narrator is sopheric. It is also just impossible to find get into the world just cannot get past that full robots have a sexual interest in humans. Ok I can see sex bots but regular robots which engineer would put a working penis on it?? What are they supposed to use for cum. Oil?

Great book

I typically don't like dystopian books but this author duo does a great job. The love story is great! The H and h both have good character development and you can see/ feel how both of them change as they help eachother grow and inevitably fall in love. The only complaint I have is the number of times the word optics was used ;).

Very well written.

This is an absolutely wonderful story, emotionally charged and heartbreaking at times. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely recommend this book. I wish there was a part 2 to it.

***Heartbreaking***

Omg I cried when this book ended, it's so very sad and sweet and romantic. I can't express how much this book touched me deeply, it just made me realised how precious life and your loved ones are. I loved this book so much and I would have preferred a different ending though. The narratives are excellent thanks Hollie Jackson and Ryan Turner.
