This book describes his life and career as an Urdu poet, lyricist, and songwriter in the Hindi film industry. He has written lyrics for a number of Hindi–Urdu soundtracks. He was one of the most dominant figures in Indian Urdu poetry and is still considered to be one of the finest avant-garde poets of 20th-century Urdu literature. He has also received many awards throughout his life, and a few of his literary works are given in a separate section of the book, written in devanagari.
