Publisher's Summary

Emotionally Focused Family Therapy is the definitive manual for applying the effectiveness of emotionally focused therapy (EFT) to the complexities of family life.

This audiobook sets out a theoretical framework for mental health professionals to enhance their conceptualisation of family dynamics, considering a broad range of presenting problems and family groups.

The first section applies EFT theory and principles to the practice of family therapy. The second section explicates the process of EFT and examines the interventions associated with the EFT approach to families. In the final section, the authors provide case examples of emotionally focused family therapy (EFFT) practice, with chapters on traumatic loss, step-families, externalising disorders and internalising disorders.

Integrating up-to-date research with clinical transcripts and case examples throughout, Emotionally Focused Family Therapy is a must-listen for therapists looking to promote the development and renewal of family relationships using the principles of EFT.

I wish it was a different narrator

This is my second book on EFT (in this case, EFFT) narrated by this narrator. The content is great, but I'm constantly distracted and irritated by the narrator. She enunciates her words so diligently and harshly, she sounds very uptight and I can't relax. I am so happy to be learning about EFT, and so wishing a different narrator would be used. I adored the book, Love Sense, narrated by Dr. Sue Johnson - a warm-blooded human bringing life and realness to the journey. In the very beginning of this book, a man with a British accent spoke for the introduction and I was so happy, then he said the name of the upcoming narrator and my heart sank.
