Is Biblical Preaching Doomed to Extinction?

In the Old Testament, God decried the fact that his people were perishing for lack of knowledge about him. The same seems to be occurring today. There is sharing, suggesting, plenty of storytelling, and lots of preaching to felt needs in modern pulpits. But the authoritative, expositional opening of the word of God is becoming scarcer all the time. Jesus told Peter, "Feed my sheep" (John 21:17). Such is the mission for all Christ's shepherds. But when preaching is neglected, those who have been called to feed the sheep do little more than pet them.

In this audiobook, 11 pastors and scholars issue a fervent plea for preachers to preach the word. Here is encouragement for pastors to persevere in their calling and wisdom to guide congregations in holding their shepherds to the biblical standards.

beautiful wisdom

I appreciate this book by the clear and concise way it depicts the way pastor's need to get back to preaching pure unadulterated Gospel..not psychology not a sales pitch to fill seats and certainly not new age that's seems to be slithering into the church. Just give me the whole Gospel. I'm not a pastor but I know what I want to hear... simply the truth, the good bad or ugly, I want to hear God heart what He has to say, through His word...word by word not an opinionated idea by newage seeker friendly SPIN by some slick act.

A must for preachers!

Well done! The book is informational on a proper understanding and execution of preaching as revealed in God's Word. The reading performance is engaging too--he read it as if it were his own material.

Ambitious title. Not so good delivery

Rather general and a bit condescending in delivery. Feels like you are a school boy being talked too. RC Sproul had the best article, practical and profound. MacArthur is sharp and abrupt as usual. The rest of speakers seemed to be too general, ranting about being spiritual, lacking to address any particular issues.
Good performance in reading.
