Publisher's Summary
Memory is the greatest challenge to learning a foreign language; there are just too many words and too many rules. For every new word we learn, we seem to forget two old ones, making fluency seem out of reach.
Fluent Forever tackles this challenge head-on. Starting with pronunciation, you'll learn how to rewire your ears and turn foreign sounds into familiar sounds. And with the help of sophisticated spaced-repetition techniques, you'll be able to memorize hundreds of words a month in minutes every day. This is brain hacking at its most exciting, taking what we know about neuroscience and linguistics and using it to create the most efficient and enjoyable way to learn a foreign language in the spare minutes of your day.

Don't get the audiobook.
If you are interested in this book, do not get the audio version. There is no way to access the graphics- they are not available on the authors website- at least not without paying, and these are vital for understanding the material. The author keeps referring to the appendices which are unavailable in this format. Save your money

Not worth the money.
Buy the book. The author’s performance is great but the audio book isn’t worth the price. Not even a free credit with audible.

It REALLY works.... IF you do!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely! The techniques really work, and work for more than just languages.I now use the SRS system to create guides to study nearly everything...
Who was your favorite character and why?
n/a
Which character – as performed by Gabriel Wyner – was your favorite?
n/a
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It helped me find a key to unlock a language I could not speak, NOW I am truly speaking coherently, writing clearly, and learning every day.It does take a lot of preparation work, but its the preparation work that opens the door to the language, the SRS methodology is what makes it STICK...
Any additional comments?
If you want fast, permanent fluency in any language, are willing to work to get it, and love exploring the magic of languages, this is the method you are looking for....

This book will change the world...
I can’t begin to explain how incredible this method for language learning. My abilities to learn, retain and recall information has drastically increased. I’m currently learning German and started out with a native German speaking friend giving me tips and answering questions as well as using apps like Memrise and Doulingo but I did not become serious about learning until reading this book. My German friend is on her way to becoming a Polyglot (she speaks 3 fluently and is learning 2 more at the same time) and she almost feels robbed of her time spent in classes and doing boring translations now that she is using the Fluent-Forever method.
She’s actually a bit jealous that I’m starting out with such an effective tool that she wasn’t unaware of and now she’s learning faster than ever. Gabe did a f******** fantastic job with putting together all of these techniques as well as an excellent narration, colorfully and writing writing and staring forward and easy to understand examples.
This man deserves some kind of trophy for his efforts. I bought this audio book as well as 2 paperbacks and have gifted e-cards for friends to get the audio book themselves.
If you want to learn a new language quickly and have lot of fun while doing it, buy this book and tell everyone you know about it.

The first learning system I have stuck with
I have tried more learning German systems than I can remember. From Rosetta Stone to intensive classes. This is the first method that has kept my interest and gives me the instant gratification that I am actually getting somewhere with my German. It does take a lot of work but I know it is working and I really appreciate the methods, tips, and results.

This audiobook is excellent
As a book it is a very intelligent, insightful and easy to follow reading. I got a lot of practical tips and correct ways to study a language, as well as the reasoning behind everything.
The audiobook reading is superb. The accents for foreign languages are on point, the reading moods conveying, and I didn't need any chart or visual aid (although it has a mobile friendly website for footnotes of these kind). I like to listen to it for its insights and humor.

Nothing I didn't know
I am not a native English speaker . The book is useful for people who didn't know how to learn a language but as you can listen on the book , you need to work for being fluent in any language. Good listening for people who are serious about learning a language correctly not just to get by

Innovative
This book has completely changed my efforts to learn German, a language I wanted to learn since the age of 8. I was fascinated by the book since the beginning. Sometimes I was begging for more traffic (listening while commuting...)! I was never expecting to get stuck with a book. I love the author's passion about languages. I went to his website and I spent time searching around and watching his YouTube videos . I never thought that pronunciation is so important. I admire the quality of work invested for this book. I imagine that the author is very happy because he has discovered the reason of his existence, the purpose of his life! He is on a mission and there many who want to follow him and try to find out their own mission!

I'm glad I found this book because it had some really good tips for language learning. I found it a bit long-winded though and it could have got its points across a lot more quickly.

If you are struggling learning a foreign language, LISTEN to this
Definitely a very insightful book from the perspective of a writer who is well-versed in linguistics and the struggles of learning (multiple) languages.
As a learner or several languages myself, there were things mentioned in the book I was already familiar with (the efficiency of flashcards for example), but it was still very interesting and educational to get to see what another person’s take and approach is on the matter.
A very nice read indeed.

A good place to start is to learn how to learn!
If your new year’s resolution is to learn a new language, this audiobook might be a great place to start.
Wyner speaks multiple languages and, over the years, has combined the best elements of different learning programs and psychology to work out the fastest and easiest way to learn and retain a new language – for himself.
Different people have different capacities to learn and remember. Ultimately, it’s our own interest and commitment that will make the biggest difference. Where Wyner’s teachings succeed however, is through providing a lot of tips and techniques that can be combined to help wake up our memory.
He reads his own audiobook successfully and varies the recording from the printed version to acknowledge the different medium. It would help enormously to read along with the printed version however, so making use of Amazon/Audible’s Whispersync option might be the way to go.
Wyner refers a lot to his own website and has set up a section for audiobook listeners to access the references that need to be seen, not heard.
In Fluent Forever, Wyner discusses tongue and lip positions, the use of flash cards, word lists and word associations, delving in to the way our brain connects information and the power of visualising the meaning of a word. He pushes the need to recall, not translate and goes on to explain the difference.
On top of his own teachings, Wyner also directs the listener to lots of free and paid online resources, and printed resources such as phrase books and language dictionaries.
If you’ve not been successful learning a language in the past, Wyner teaches you how to learn, which is an important first step. Take the time to learn about learning and you might be surprised by what you learn!
Fluent Forever is an older audiobook, released back in 2017, but it’s still a current and valuable 8 hour lesson.

Inspiring
You will learn many techniques and strategies that are both practical and approachable towards learning any language.
YET, I found the greatest takeaway from this book was the inspiration I got for learning my second language.
Read, learn and be inspired. Fluency isn’t as far off as you’d think.

Inspiring
After visiting Indonesia in 2013, I took up the challenge of learning Bahasa Indonesia. I tried many of the well advertised language learning tools, attended classes, and waded through many Learn Bahasa Indonesia books. It was a hard slog, but this year, when I was in Indonesia on holidays, I confidently held conversations with the local people in Bahasa Indonesia. Next year I'm off to Vietnam, and I thought to myself, how much can I learn before I go? I'd heard of Gabe's book, so I thought I'd try it out.
This is a great resource for those people who are interested in learning new languages, whilst I was a little sceptical at first, having seen many advertisements on FB, I have started to apply some of Gabe's techniques to kickstart my Vietnamese language learning.
It is easy to visualise the concepts laid down by the author, and I was inspired to start employing the language learning strategy laid out by the author.
For those interested in learning languages, I highly recommend this book, and I look forward to mastering the basics of a new language much faster than it took me to learn Bahasa.

Easy listening
This book came to me with perfect timing. I now know I can easily learn my native language, Te reo Māori, which isn't supported here, nor is it a language google can translate, yet. However that doesn't matter because this book has given me all the skills I need to confidently become bilingual.
