Sean was just waiting for his best friend to show up at the bar so they could play some pool. It came as a shock when the tall blonde man accosted Sean and demanded that he change seats. His refusal would change his life. When the fight ended, Sean found himself in the strangest meeting of his life. Odin, Archangel Michael, Lucifer, and Morrigan all vied for his soul, each offering different deals. Sean had to choose, so he chose to go with the goddess of Fate, Death, and Battle.

Steve doesn’t know who he is. Or who he was. He doesn’t know anything, actually. Not even where he is. Other than a vast open field of dirt. All Steve knows is that he’s apparently supposed to build a farm. At least that’s his only workable assumption. Given the number of farm-tools left to him. That and the massive number of sacks full of seeds. Unfortunately, this isn’t even the strangest part of this new life. Hidden inside the farm tools, Steve finds messages. Messages that appear in floating windows in front of him.

Reports to write, forms to fill, coffee to drink, leads to run down. Gus’s life was a tedium and boredom he’d grown comfortable with. One that he sought out after he’d come back from his tour of duty. A detective in the paranormal investigations department. A job he could work day in and day out in relative peace. One cold and forgotten cup of coffee at a time. It was an environment that made some sense to him. At least in comparison to civilian life where almost nothing did. On top of that, it gave him a chance to hide what he was from the rest of the world.

"Dude! It finally came!" My roommate barely withheld his excitement as he barreled into the living room of our apartment with a package in his hand. "Check it out, Jacob." He smiled as he tore at the brown paper surrounding his purchase. As he ripped the covering off the package, bits and pieces scattered all across the floor of the living room like confetti. For a second, I thought about lecturing Todd about not making a mess of our apartment, but who was I kidding? This place was already a shithole. At least some half-assed confetti would make it feel a little livelier.

Story
After dying and being reborn into a world that's built like a video game, Jim has found himself stuck in a very old-world style new-player zone for low-level adventurers. Unfortunately, the zone fell out of use centuries ago, and no one told the monsters they were supposed to take it easy on the Noobs. Even worse, the only new player around is Jim. Jim has been given an opportunity, and he'll do his best to take advantage of it.
Publisher's Summary
Two thousand years in the future. The world is a wasteland, but the women are still gorgeous.
Jack Bowman is out of luck and out of money. That is, until he gets an offer to be a part of an experiment for a major scientific research company. All he has to do is get cryogenically frozen for a few years and he'll be rich. What could go wrong?
Quite a bit, as it turns out.
When Jack's pod splits open and he's met by two beautiful women, he's introduced to a very different world from the one he left behind. There are warring tribes, mutated animals, actual monsters, and even ogres. With so many threats, how can anyone hope to survive?
Lucky for Jack, being frozen was only half the experiment. The other part is swimming around his bloodstream, and it's turning him into something more than human.

I wanted this to be a good story - it wasn't
The narration was fine, as others have commented the women's voices were not that well done. The pacing is a bit quick, but you get use to it. The premise, the premise is what drew me in - I love a good dystopic future, this wasn't that. I love a good look into the future and an author imagining what remains and what's changed, this was better and I really was interested in this earth, millenia into the future. All of this I liked and, even some of the conceits of the genre didn't bother me - good guy vs. bad guys, no middle ground, no moral ambiguity - fine. The protagonist has all the info and abilities to get it done - fine I am in.
What I didn't like is that there are no surprises here, we're told he has nanobots and they help him heal - so you know any fight he has, he wins. Any risk he's in, he gets out of it. Okay, I've read books like this, make the fights interesting, make the risks something where others may get hurt. None of that here, the fights go by too quickly and his abilities are so far superior that it's hard to buy into the emotions of the action. And when he is hurt, well you know it's not going to be serious.
What really bothered me was the cheap sex scenes. Okay, he's a stud so the only two women who we're told are beautiful he has sex with - and they don't mind sharing him? This does so little for the story, it's like really, we need to have this teenage fantasy in here, why? Like it's not well-written sex, it doesn't push the narrative and, as far as book 1 goes, it establishes no tension to be resolved later. So he has sex with these two women, and his nanobots keep him hard - so what? Am I supposed to think this is a major bonus about the character - these don't even really tell us anything new about him or the women, there's nothing we learn here and the scenes are too tame to really be candy for the reader. I like sex, I don't mind reading about it and I assume in the future - whatever it looks like - people will have sex, but if you're going to spend precious words on sex then make them count, make it push the narrative or set up something. I wish the fights would have been better thought out and expanded rather than the time spent on the sex scenes here. Not sure I'll read book 2 to see if there's a payoff.
I loved the premise and wanted to be a fan of this world and this story but poorly written battles, a lack of suspense or uncertainty in any of the fights left me just bored - the world isn't even thoroughly painted here, and this is a world I want to know more about.
A few characters show some promise and maybe they'll have more story next book or, become spin offs but for now I can't recommend this book.

Wtf. The book was good til he got to the first settlement...then the author just decided to start writing the character as an ass. A self-important ass. Full of tropes, I can say this book is tropetastic.

progressively disappointing
I started off thinking the book was ok not great but good enough to pass the time. it was nothing but a down hill experience from there. The base storyline is standard lone outsider comes into wasteland and attempts to save it. the characters have personality only in the sense of check marks on a sheet. Every attempt at development or explanation for a characters actions are portrayed through said character saying how they are such and such so thats why they did it or the main character describing said character in some benign narration. There are major continuity issues throughout the entire book. The author shows a distinct lack of experience or imagination with his displays of horror or technical savvy making important scene become annoying or boring. also his solutions to issues that arise for the characters are mostly uninspired and/or clumsy. overall not worth the effort to listen to, you are better of forgetting this book even existed and that is what I will now attempt to do myself.
the narrator's performance was ok but he mispronounced a couple commonly used words through the course of the book which got annoying.

pleasantly suprised
What I thought of the narrator and voices --> The narrator has an excellent voice for males. The accent he used for the main character really worked well and felt like a great fit. Some of the other characters were done well too. The downside is the female voices are not that great. I would expect it to be difficult for a male with a normal deep voice to pull off a feminine voice. This is no knock against the narrator's talent. It is just hard to do. The main character voice quality easily made up for the female shortcomings.
Sex scenes--> Brief and did not get into a ton of detail. I thought it hit the right balance and did not overdo anything. They did not seem forced or detract from the story.
The story--> I thought the story was good. The main character is not the typical naive idiot stumbling around trying to figure everything out and make any normal male facepalm. Instead, the main character comes off as more believable, especially as ex-military. I was in the army infantry, and I know people with similar personalities so it was easy to identify.
Why I gave the book 5 stars--> Is this one of the best books I've read or listen to? No. However, it is solid and engaging. When books have parts that annoy me, I'll increase the speed. I think I only used the speed up once and it was for less than a minute. I think it is worth the credit just to hear the main characters sarcastic comments.

Do not buy this book
Ok this is only my third review but I felt it was necessary.
The narrator did a fantastic job. Good job Mr Cendese.
The story itself
No character development at all its insane even the main character has no real development.
Poor problem solving I won’t give it away but it’s the same thing over and over.
Poor character interaction it’s all ( Oh you say your a good guy. Well I guess I trust you.)
The idea was good but a very poor execution
There are some good parts but I get the feeling Mr. Pierce just got lazy. Just my opinion.

One of the best dystopian books I've ever read
This was a creative and fun ride. I've always been a huge dystopian fan, but most stories tend to blend together or feel the same. Not this one. It's like Fallout, but with a better story and a more interesting world. The lead character is an ex-marine, so I instantly related, but he also has a good heart and wants to do right by his friends. When he wakes up in the future, he has to navigate a completely foreign (yet still familiar) world. It's almost like stepping into a twisted fantasy world in many ways. He has to figure out what happened to the planet while he was asleep, all while trying to survive and keep his new friends alive. I can't recommend this one enough. The sequel just released so I hope the audio for it comes out soon!

A Mess-Harem no Harem-Can’t It Be Good?
Imagine the worst Twilight Zone show or Star Trek TOS and multiply by a factor of 4. That’s how bad Future Reborn is.
Whoa! I regret with my face in rictus for buying this. No spoilers, but the plot and the characters are incredibly derivative and flat, with little or no depth to hold them up, not to mention cliche.
The ST TOS - The Omega Glory was better than this, and it told more in less than an hour!
Recently, I discovered Harem as a genre. I was on the fence with this one because I was afraid the writing would be poor, the plot razor thin like those damn Cyborg romances are for women.
The scenes on the intimate, physical parts are okay. They were brief and kind of bland, and Jack Bowman is your typical Neuraenglish (Amr) white Saxon male.
No character arc. No character growth need apply.
I think it’s okay to have this kind of book in this genre, but don’t be boring. Tell a good story, not a dull one. Review ends...

Future Bored
The premise and set-up are classic sci-fi: contemporary everyman volunteers for a sketchy scientific venture involving cryogenic stasis. Ge then wakes up in the future and has to use what skills he developed in the past and whatever luck he has to survive, shenanigans ensue that carry him through the plot.
Concept is great, characters are interesting and show signs of being well crafted. Jack’s meta-awareness is refreshing, and the sisters Mira and Belle, the two women that pull him from the aforementioned cryogenic stasis, show signs of being rugged survivors with just the right coating of jadedness to get by in a waster’s life without being straw nihilists.
And here’s the BUTT.
I’m not familiar with Alexander Cendese’s work, but from the uncomfortable five chapter slog I endured I don’t think I want to be. I enjoyed his range in dialogue but his narration is flat and rushed, impatient and disinterested, it could be the result of the direction but it pulled me way away from the experience.

Convenient and forgettable Mary Sue MC
The entire story is convenient AF, nothing feels earned, the love interests arnt developed, the premise is wishy washy, as it never fully commits to what it says and some of the ramifications of being a person from the past are ignored entirely except for the good parts.
And when uou finally introduce some somewhat interesting villians you kill them off the bat out of fear that it might detract from how 'awesome' the mc is...
id recommend you skip this one if you want to save some time.
