THE TIKTOK FANTASY SENSATION THAT'S SOLD OVER HALF A MILLION COPIES, PERFECT FOR FANS OF SARAH J. MAAS AND JENNIFER L. ARMENTROUT

'I don't choose him. Not anymore. I'm choosing me.'

I was told that being confined was to keep the bad out . . . Until i realized it was about keeping me in'

Midas made me forbidden and weak. Little did he know that I would find my wings and voice - which sings now.

After living amongst the terrifying army of Fourth Kingdom, I find myself, once again, in strange lands and a kingdom surrounded by liars.

But something has ignited within me. Something dark. Something angry.

Then comes King Ravinger.

And the last thing I wanted was my heart to be torn.

Can I really fall in love when the cities around me threaten to crumble and my fate hangs in the balance?

One thing is for sure, I won't be caught in a cage again.

No, this time, it'll be me setting the trap.

Critic Reviews

Praise for The Plated Prisoner Series
This series has stolen my heart, my breath, my regard for anything else. I've never been so immersed in a story before-never read characters that have felt so real. I've cried, laughed, screamed, thrown my kindle across the room, picked it up again, swooned . . . These characters, this WORLD . . . it's everything. Raven has written a story for the ages, destined to go down as one of the epics
Raven writes with a magic that comes to life on the page. Every single word gleams like gold
This is one of those series that started off phenomenal, and only gets better with every subsequent book.
Get ready to be enthralled from the first word, and begging for more by the last. Raven Kennedy crafts an astonishing world that's filled with captivating characters and a story you won't be able to put down
This series is amazing and I can't recommend it enough. It is one of the best New Adult Fantasy books out there.
TEN GILDED STARS! Remarkably original . . .and the prose, people . . . gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous
An emotional rollercoaster
What I've enjoyed so far about this series is how it's a metaphor about real, emotional issues
I devoured [the] first book and it ended on such a nice cliff-hanger that I am thirsting for the next one

I want to go on a rage rant about this series, but this isn’t the forum, so here’s a short review for books 1-3.

The series is exhausting. The main character spends three books in an endless cycle of self-pity and existential crisis, either never realising the truth or realising it but never taking meaningful action. I read online that book three has the satisfying end to the abuse but it just felt like blind emotional rage.

For someone with access to books and years of exposure to Midas’ schemes, the main character never develops even a shred of wit, strategy, or political sense. She constantly claims to have studied him, yet never uses that knowledge to her advantage except to get abused some more. Her arc feels hollow. The romance is no better, the love interest is meant to be Midas’ opposite, someone who sees beyond gold, but there is nothing compelling inside Auren to explain why he falls for her. She isn’t clever, strong, or decisive just a glutton for pain and a passive dreamer who talks about change but never acts unless pushed to the extreme. It would be more understandable that he wanted to help her, but falling for her was far-fetched.

On audio: the male voice was strong, but the female narrator embodied Auren’s personality too well. Her delivery matched the protagonist’s endless whining so closely that it made the listening experience grating and irritating. Credit to the accuracy, but I had to listen at 1.5x speed just to finish.

Overall, the plot drags, the character development circles endlessly, and the heroine never shows the intelligence or growth needed to make the story satisfying. Not recommended.

Gold plated, but NOT GOLD.
