Charlie n'est pas rêveuse, mais déterminée, ça, oui. Issue des mauvais quartiers de Chicago et d'une famille tout aussi peu reluisante, elle compte bien s'offrir un avenir meilleur. Les hommes sont accessoires, son expérience l'a convaincue de ne pas compter sur eux. Elle ne connait que les bad boys et a fini par se convaincre que le romantisme et l'amour ce n'est pas pour elle. Mais voilà, il y a ce type qui vient chanter un soir dans le bar où elle travaille, et qui ne la traite pas comme les autres. Difficile de ne pas craquer. Comment pourrait-elle imaginer que ce beau brun à l'accent français et aux origines slaves a prévu de s'engager dans un tout autre genre d'amour ?
