Publisher's Summary

When P.V. Narasimha Rao became the unlikely prime minister of India in 1991, he inherited a nation adrift, violent insurgencies, and economic crisis. Despite being unloved by his people, mistrusted by his party, and ruling under the shadow of 10 Janpath, Rao transformed the economy and ushered India into the global arena.

With exclusive access to Rao’s never-before-seen personal papers and diaries, this definitive biography provides new revelations on the Indian economy, nuclear program, and foreign policy and the Babri Masjid. Tracing his early life from a small town in Telangana through his years in power and finally his humiliation in retirement, it never loses sight of the inner man, his difficult childhood, his corruption and love affairs, and his lingering loneliness.

Meticulously researched and brutally honest, this landmark political biography is a must-listen for anyone interested in knowing about the man responsible for transforming India.

Best book to know how a country is transformed

This is just not a biography, a well narrated story of how a man lead the transformation of the largest democracy from the verge of collapse to the emerging global power. We owe him our respects and gratitude.

Unbiased narrative of a truly world class leader

Got hooked to it right from chapter 1. Really appreciate the author's efforts to tell of the story of a man who did right things at right times shaping history of modern India. Had there been anyone else in Narsimha Rao's place, today's India would've been entirely different. We Indians will be forever indebted to his phenomenal contribution to India's Economy, foreign policy and many other sectors.

The narrator's voice is good, clear and narrating style is also very nice.

Completely changed my perception about PV garu

This book completely changed my perception about PV garu.

A man whose name should be carved in golden letter s of modern history of India is not given his due credit

A well deserving tribute to PV Narasimha Rao

Fast paced and good narrative. There was never a dull moment while listening in. Throws an insight on a great statesman and a phenomenal prime minister who underrated his achievements. Definitely worth the time!

Very insightful, backed by crisp narration.

Wonderful book capturing unknown facets of the architect of the 1991 reforms. Unfortunate that this PM who should be celebrated by all Indians, has been relegated to the footnotes. Hope books like this one shine light on such forgotten heroes of India.

The book is very well written and with audible, you get a sense of the story of PVN garu unfolding in front of you. Thank you for this effort.

Immensely readable

Incredible to learn what the great PVNR had to navigate thru to do what he did. We all owe it to him.
The book also has shades of the reasons why the Congress Party is on a slippery slope owing to its obsession with one family.
Well written and well researched. Congratulations to Vinay.
