Publisher's Summary

When P.V. Narasimha Rao became the unlikely prime minister of India in 1991, he inherited a nation adrift, violent insurgencies, and economic crisis. Despite being unloved by his people, mistrusted by his party, and ruling under the shadow of 10 Janpath, Rao transformed the economy and ushered India into the global arena.

With exclusive access to Rao’s never-before-seen personal papers and diaries, this definitive biography provides new revelations on the Indian economy, nuclear program, and foreign policy and the Babri Masjid. Tracing his early life from a small town in Telangana through his years in power and finally his humiliation in retirement, it never loses sight of the inner man, his difficult childhood, his corruption and love affairs, and his lingering loneliness.

Meticulously researched and brutally honest, this landmark political biography is a must-listen for anyone interested in knowing about the man responsible for transforming India.

Spectacular Read

This book reads like a thriller mainly because of the historic man and material, and also because of the writing. Must read book about a terrific politician, a man who transformed India for the better. Generations will owe him our gratitude. The book is very well researched and an easy read/listen.

So much to learn ...

The book describes little known facts about Late Shri Narsimharao Ji. A scholar and visionary he led India to an era where it can believe to be a superpower.

I am glad to notice that he was assisted by some super sharp and focused people who put the nation first.

It would be better to include a chapter on share market reforms and the ISRO case of Dr. Nambinarayanan.

The Story Deserves 100+ Stars

Narrated well. Explores deep into the inner workings of the Lutyen's Delhi and the Delhi Durbar. Gives one a feeling that he/she is living through the life of PV as PV himself.

Very insightful, backed by crisp narration.

Wonderful book capturing unknown facets of the architect of the 1991 reforms. Unfortunate that this PM who should be celebrated by all Indians, has been relegated to the footnotes. Hope books like this one shine light on such forgotten heroes of India.

The book is very well written and with audible, you get a sense of the story of PVN garu unfolding in front of you. Thank you for this effort.
