Publisher's Summary

Sir Michael Caine - perhaps best known as gang leader Charlie Croker in 60s crime caper The Italian Job - tells the stories of remarkable heists and extraordinary robberies from around the world, as remembered by the masterminds, detectives, victims, journalists and witnesses that lived through them.

For more than 60 years, Caine has played thieves, criminals, gangsters and the detectives trying to catch them. But there’s Hollywood and then there’s real life... and that’s when things get really interesting.

From the largest bank burglary in American history, to the world’s most audacious book heist, Heist with Michael Caine travels to America, Australia, Stockholm, Antwerp and everywhere in-between to tell true stories behind the world’s most daring heists.

A Somethin’ Else production for Audible Originals, Heist with Michael Caine was created by Alexis Conran, Russell Finch and David Britland. Produced by Richard Ward and Jessica Beck. Executive produced by Joe Sykes and Russell Finch.

Real life heists told In a fun way

The narration and the music add to the spice of the story and it becomes very entertaining.

Entertaining but not very enriching

Gives a brief insight into the minds of the "heist pullers"
Had some details about the crimes committed, but I was hoping that it'll at least lead me to at least understand how to avoid a heist. Was entertained thoroughly but the student in me was left a little high and dry.
still, it's a must hear audio book.

Real life is stranger than fiction

The 5 real life heists almost seemed fictional. Is it really possible to pull off things like that.. especially the helicopter one?
Sir Michael Caine's narration gives the necessary mellowness to the otherwise adrenaline filled stories.enjoyed it

Could have been better

It just never fulfilled the expectation. didnt feel any thrills or excitement too bland. Heist delivered as if it just a paragraph read in a classroom.

Overall a very useful read

The author has poured his knowledge about compliance and how it works on people elucidating various techniques they use for this purpose. Some of them may seem very common but the best part is he explains why something works the way it works. Lots of examples- very easy to understand and interesting. As a first time audible listener I must say I enjoyed it. Except the portion where there are far too many references of suicides for explaining social proof- it was slightly a put off and towards the end it got a little boring- otherwise a very useful book. You use it to learn and reference it in your writing or teaching or just for life.

Riveting

Michael Caine brilliantly tells the story of various heists. From the first episode, the story comes to life and we are introduced to the employees who find the evidence of robbery, the police and investigators, and also the perpetrators. This is riveting stuff, well read, written and produced.

Highly recommended.

Badly Written

Could have been great. Unfortunately really badly written. There could have been a better selection of heists covered.

Fascinating

So very interesting to hear about some of the most famous heists in the world, especially as told by the robbers themselves. How they were executed and why they were caught....but not always with the money !! Micheal Cain was the perfect narrator 😊

Ruined by music track

As will all many of these 'free listens' this was ruined by the poor quality and unnecessarily loud music track. I gave up very early on.

Fantastic, wraps you up and carries you along

A great listen. Atmospheric, funny and exciting. I can’t wait to listen to them all. Although maybe they would have a better time figuring out “who done it” if whenever they refer to a unknown member of the gang they didn’t call them a he...although great for the female criminal fraternity to be unexamined!

Interesting but drawn out

Michael Caine is a great narrator but this collection of stories is just not not worth wasting his talent on. I found the presentation annoying, for the continual interruptions of music (totally unnecessary), often louder than the voices and irritating to the ears, The stories were drawn out too much by the introduction of witnesses retelling their experiences. I gave up on it after a while.
