Publisher's Summary
Enter the monstrous and magical world of Stephen Fry's Sunday Times best seller Heroes, brought to you by Penguin.
Shortlisted for the 2018 Specsavers audiobook award.
Imagine sandals on your feet, a sword in your hand and the hot sun beating down on your helmet. Enter the world of Stephen Fry's Sunday Times best seller, Heroes.
Few mere mortals have ever embarked on such bold and heart-stirring adventures, overcome myriad monstrous perils, or outwitted scheming vengeful gods, quite as stylishly and triumphantly as Greek heroes.
In this companion to his best-selling Mythos, Stephen Fry brilliantly retells these dramatic, funny, tragic and timeless tales.
Join Jason aboard the Argo as he quests for the Golden Fleece. See Atalanta - who was raised by bears - outrun any man before being tricked with golden apples. Witness wily Oedipus solve the riddle of the Sphinx and discover how Bellerophon captures the winged horse Pegasus to help him slay the monster Chimera.
Filled with white-knuckle chases and battles, impossible puzzles and riddles, acts of base cowardice and real bravery, not to mention murders and selfless sacrifices, Heroes is the story of what we mortals are truly capable of - at our worst and our very best.
Critic Reviews
"A romp through the lives of ancient Greek gods. Fry is at his story-telling best...the gods will be pleased." (Times)
"Assured and engaging. The pace is lively, the jokes are genuinely funny." (Guardian)
"An Olympian feat. The gods seem to be smiling on Fry - his myths are definitely a hit." (Evening Standard)

Better than Mythos!
I loved this book! Stephen Fry has done an amazing job, not just with the writing, but with the narration as well!
He is such a great storyteller. Another thing that I found enjoyable in this book is how Stephen Fry spiced the book with so many small facts and tit bits of information about these stories. I kept looking at the world map, whenever he mentioned seas and cities that I hadn't heard of before. I have to say, this book has improved my geography as well. Now I know why the agean sea is called the agean, why the Atlas mountains are called that and much more...
An extremely enjoyable listen. I can't wait to get my hands on the third book!

Stephen Fry and greek Mythology !!!
Brilliantly narrated as usual. Captivating from beginning to end. A perfect continuation from mythos. My only regret is that there's just 1 book

Great books to listen to and think deeper on Myth
The pair of these 2 Greek mythological related books(Mythos and Heroes) have been a great pleasure to read and listen to. I have always enjoyed listening to audiobooks narrated by Mr Stephen Fry, but these books let me think a bit deeper on mythological aspects and relations between different cultures, their myths and actual scientific theories and proofs.

Greek heroes deserve this book
Stephen fry really did a great job on this book despite the fact that to many he isn't an author as much an actor. Greek mythology with all the complicated relationships between God ,Demi God and mortals is explained in a meaningful and well researched way. Glad I read it.
