Publisher's Summary

We all make poor financial decisions sometimes. No one knows this better than J.D. Roth.

In 2004, deep in financial debt, Roth resolved to turn things around. Reading every money book he could, and putting that knowledge into practice, he dug himself out of debt and built enough wealth to retire early. He is now, at the age of 51, financially independent - and on a mission to help others achieve financial freedom, too. No gimmicks, no games. Just proven methods that work.

In this audiobook, Roth takes you inside the trending world of financial independence and early retirement, giving you the tools both to achieve financial independence and to improve the quality of your everyday life. You'll explore the ins and outs of the "FIRE movement", a collection of ideas and habits that allow people to manage their money so they can quit working while they're young. You'll consider the shockingly simple math behind financial freedom. You'll also examine the philosophy and psychology of how - and why - we spend, save, and invest.

Financial freedom is possible. And no matter what your goals are, these 10 lessons will bring you closer than ever to achieving what that freedom means: happiness, fulfillment, and a rich life.

Wonderful insight on FIRE

Explained in simple words the essence of savings to gain financial independence.
The reading has to be supplemented with the online reference to get better understanding of the subject. Very helpful for those who are young.

Relevant to Indian audiences in parts

The content was pretty basic, perhaps a starter for someone looking at FIRE. Could have been a little more deeper also needs usual aids and the website built as a supplementary material could be more hard working.

I expected more from a great courses audio book

I was thoroughly disappointed with this book. the performance was great but, I have multiple great courses audio books and this is one I think could have become a must read for everyone but is merely relegated to that this should have just been an article in a magazine. meh

Retirement strategy 101

If you've never thought about retirement before, this will help frame the problem.

But it may feel too basic for folks who already have retirement funds, who think about how to increase income and cut costs, etc..

Eye opening

There were some things in this book that I had to idea about and it has opened my mind up to new and rewarding possibilities. It breaks down the savings part for me which I really needed to know and the wealth snowball was an excellent chapter that I had to reheat at least twice. Overall, this book has been very insightful and I now understand a lot more about money and how I can continue to use this tool to my advantage.

My favorite audible book so far

I really appreciate the thoroughness of this book. Most financial types of books give a lot of generalized information. But this book had lots of details. There were things that I'm already doing and things I plan to implement into my life, moving forward.

Good primer on becoming financially independent!

Enjoyed this gem about FIRE! Great narration and great content. Check the website for deeper dive into his ideas and other resources.
Summary: when you no longer have to work to live you can focus on living for what you love - family friends personal growth and making a difference. The simple equation is Income - expenses = income to invest. The more you invest in index S&P 500 etf and balanced bond etf the faster you reach freedom.

New to Me Outlook on Resiliency and Capital Gains

I really enjoyed the content and delivery of the material. I'll be reviewing and taking notes. The 1st key takeaway includes the 7 stages on path of financial independence and their markers. The 2nd is understanding the impacts of developing time and social capital.

The content included just the right balance of examples/anecdotal info. i greatly appreciated reference to yhe work of others to furthrr my education and research. Highly recommend this course and am looking forward to more from JD Roth!

Should be a required read for high schoolers.

Good content, the audio was a little spotty but that might have been on my end. I’ll be hanging on to this one for future reference!
