About this listen

Lakshmi is worshipped as the goddess of wealth. Her arrival is considered auspicious, while her departure is bad and inauspicious. In temples, gods are bedecked with jewels; during festivals, our houses are decorated with flowers, lamps and Lakshmi’s footprints. Clearly, she is a much-desired goddess. Yet, some friends and relatives—even gurus—tell us not to be money-minded, or that it is wrong to equate Lakshmi with money because Lakshmi is spiritual and money is material. Why this mockery of money? Why are we driving Lakshmi out of India instead of inviting her lovingly into our lives? How to Become Rich is a simple retelling of the stories of Lakshmi found in the Vedas and Puranas. Devdutt Pattanaik deftly explains what Hinduism says about economics at a personal level as well as at the social level.

Devdutt's understanding of puranik and vedic is amazing and makes sense with the simple words use. The lessons described makes it easy understand the message. The book would have excelled if some implementation was described as well to practise the teachings. The voice artist had excellent prounication of the words, still at some places the resonation was not there as someone has to be in the culture and have practised it to recite it.

The content of this audiobook is undeniably valuable and insightful. However, the experience was significantly diminished by the speaker's poor pronunciation of Sanskrit words. Mispronunciations were frequent and distracting, which took away from the authenticity and depth of the subject matter. A better narrator or proper language coaching could have made a huge difference.

Very meaningful content, worst pronunciation

Why on earth you hire a brilliant narrator from with a foreign accent to mispronounce Sanskrit terms? The narrator is not at fault but the category is not suitable for their accent. Audible studio ruined this book experience forever. Stupid mangement.
The narrator of The Gita and 7 secrets series would have done justice with this book.

The narrator is brilliant, lots of love to her.
